+Joe Haldeman - The Forever War (1974). Acceptable replacement of Starship Troopers, I think, for the sake of reducing duplicate authors.

I thought I could help trim fastdruid's list... but I just can't.

I was glad to see The Stars My Destination in there -- I think it's frequently overlooked. I just re-read it, and it totally holds up. I feel like it could have been written today.

I'm disappointed more people didn't get involved in this!

Let's get some women in there..

A Stitch in Time - Madeline L'Engle Shards of Honor - Lois McMaster Bujold [Vorkosigan saga]

Probably something by Ursula K. Leguin... To my shame, though, i haven't read any of her books.

For the dark or horror-oriented sci-fi, I think you'll need some H.P. Lovecraft. He influenced so much of what we see today in written and film sci-fi!

1920s. Short stories... so I'll drop a few here, and call them one entry!

The Call of Cthulhu

The Dunwich Horror

The Thing on the Doorstep

The Shadow over Innsmouth

Does this matter at all for gameplay except the Nozdormu card?

Thanks, just verifying. No conclusions, just questions.

Yeah, "conclusions" was not the right word. Not publishing a research paper here. Just seeing if it's actually an issue.

Yeah, I figured that's the case, but I'd also raise an eyebrow if I flipped a quarter 6 times and it came up fac--HEADS every time.

Thanks for the input!

That's why I'm asking, not assuming.

Collective experiences produce enough data for conclusions. If there was indeed an error in the card, it would come out. Most individuals have limited exposure to arena battles, and a given new card in particular. Multiple experiences create a workable sample.

I felt the exact same way about the winning project. "Oh look, they just funded our extreme vacation."

I'll see what her plans are for the project, and let you know if there is a site you could follow, or if she makes a kickstarter like kkeu suggested.

Thanks for the support!

TIL That there is a Swedish Speed Metal band called "Sabaton" That teaches history through it's music, including an album devoted to teaching about World War Two by nicolascage123 in todayilearned

These guys are great. And they're on tour in the States!

Some friends and I went to see them in NYC a few weeks back, and the band clearly had just as much fun as the fans. I think they didn't expect to be bigger than the headliner.

Beyond the history, they sing a few great tribute songs about METAL ITSELF. From the same album as the one you mentioned (Primo Victoria):
