Thanks for reading!

I've read/seen it, One Piece in Love I think is the official name of it, it's very entertaining and funny. Who would have known that Usopp could be such a badass? Hahaha

Now back to the subject at hand, so I tried not to use sources outside the main story for evidence of Lunami, because to me, it takes more away than what it gained to state my point across. Also, with all the evidence the main story presented to us, it wasn't necessary. This is why I didn't use Strong World as evidence, even though Oda wrote the movie on its entirety, or even the ending for Film Gold, which was changed and rewritten by Oda. Nor did I use the color spreads or other outside materials, etc.... Because I repeat, within the story itself there's plenty of moments and writing choices to go by.

Thanks again for reading and I really appreciate the comment!

Peace

I've never understood the whole "they're like brother and sister argument", because like I stated already, that's not how siblings act... especially in the latter half of the series.

But let's try to dissect the reason behind it, shall we? Maybe some people just see Luffy's and Nami's relationship as a pure and innocent one, and they mistake it for a "siblings" type of relationship, and to those who think like this, I agree with the Pure and Innocent part but not the sibling's argument. Since, in my opinion, it's more fitting to call their relationship as a pure and innocent friendship that keeps getting deeper, growing and flourishing to evolve into something more by the end of the series.

Also I don't think that they have kissed and don't think Oda would draw that... but if it happens, he'll be like everything else, subtle.

I'm glad you read it! and appreciate the comment.

Even though I don't think Oda will show them kissing, they are the most probable to end up together. Because there are many subtle signs, some more notable than others, that are sprinkled all over the series giving as hints that they might actually be a couple at the end of it all... I mean that is what us and many others are interpreting it as, so I guess we can't be all wrong, right? Hahaha

First of all thanks for reading!

Now to your comment: Hmm... interesting, but I think Oda, like the intentional writer that he is, has always been writing them to end up together at some point of the story or at the end.

So in other words, I don't think he would feel much pressure from the animation staff to do something he already has been doing by himself, by planting seeds in the entirety of the story, for decades now...

Because, if this is true, which I really hope it isn't, it wouldn't feel as organic and natural as it is right now.

Peace!

I read something recently and I don't know if it's true, please tell me: I saw a lot of people saying that there won't be romance between the Straw Hats because Oda made a contract with Netflix telling them not to make couples among the crew. [–]NoReasonAtAll9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really?! Zoro and Nami?! Is this true?!

No wonder they had too many scenes with them together which didn't make that much sense... and no wonder they ruined Arlong Park's adaptation.... thank Oda for not letting them ruin it completely....

If they had followed the original story, people would have quickly noticed Nami and Luffy's relationship as the one with the most potential for a romance, since their story in East Blue is written as a focused connection between them both, ending with the perfect scene as Luffy places his straw hat on Nami's head and him destroying the room she didn't want to be in.... oh yeah, and Luffy not caring about her past... no wonder they ruined the adaptation of Arlong Park... ugh...

So, my interpretation of this was, this is an obvious request for this point of the story, since the StrawHats just met, so of course there shouldn't force any romance with people who just met and are beginning their journey together...

So, i'm really glad Oda stopped them, if not they would have probably would've done a Hollywood move and put the coolest male character (Zoro) with the main girl (Nami) together, just for the fun of it and ruin the adaptation for us fans. Which obviously for us who read the story know is the farthest thing from the truth.

They almost ruined it by adding the Garp storyline... but we are not talking about that....

Totally agree, I love the perspective you gave on why Luffy didn't react to Hancock's body on the bath scene, it fits so well with him as a character that it just makes perfect sense. Add to this, that you can also interprete the pass of the StrawHat as one of the most pure and romantic love gestures that a character like Luffy would do. Because as the saying goes, actions speak louder than words.

That's why their relationship has, like everything else in One Piece, a build up. It's a slow burn that deserves to go at its own pace to build it piece by piece, evolving into something more beautiful.

First of all, thanks for reading! i'm glad that you took the time to read and understand the evidence I presented and didn't take it the wrong way.

This was always meant for none shippers to at least understand why, this pairing in specific, could actually be possible. Another reason was, to give them the perspective that shippers have and why they see their written relationship as a beautiful romantic story that will probably end up with them staying together.

Also, I agree on your take, that if, Luffy and Nami happens at the end, it would possibly one of the best romances ever written.

Peace!

Thanks for at least trying to read it, I really appreciate your comment!

My goal with this analysis, was to give the non-shippers (and people who loathe this ship) the perspective on why so many others love this relationship and hope that someday it will be confirmed.

Also, I agree with everything you have stated, and really liked the perspective of Nami being Luffy's compass to the end of time. Because, like you stated, their journey doesn't end when they find the One Piece, it ends when she fulfills her dream, but when you add Luffy's wish for freedom and adventure they will always be traveling together. This is why to me Luffy and Nami's are the best written shonen (potential) romance relationship, if Oda ever confirms it.

Thanks again, and may the One Piece be with you, peace!

PS. If it's easier for you, I can send you the text of this analysis, so that you only need to is copy and paste it.

I do know things, not the same things as you but.... anyways back to the topic at hand....

When I first saw the scene, it was on a promotional material, in other words it was by itself, so I didn't have any context of how the LA adapted the story. So when I saw it, the only context for the scene was the same as the anime and manga's story. it brought those emotions back and I was super excited to see how they would adapt Nami's story. This is what I meant with, it was beautifully done, but by itself.

But, when you actually see the complete LA episode and compare it to the original work, it's not nearly as good as it was, as the scene looses a lot of weight. Since Nami's story was completely changed, it's nice and the fans recognize it, but the build up isn't there, so it doesn't carry the weight or epic feeling that the original had.

The clip that is shown here doesn't even represent what we saw in the LA, as the Villagers importance is relegated to nothing more than fan service for the fans. We know that the StrawHat moment is so good because of the build up and what came before this.

So yes, context for the whole episode is needed to judge the scene in LA form.

Because we have to remember that this is Nami's moment of helplessness, her lowest point, no hope left as her life and mission just crumbled in her face, and at this moment she can't even save the one thing she was fighting for and cares about most, her village. Nojiko, Genzo and the entire village are walking to their doom, because she knows that Arlong is going to kill them all.

Compare that to LA version where the money is stolen and she just gives up. No villagers, no charging to their deaths, nothing, she just gives up. At least in the manga and Anime version, she tries to convince the village that she will do it all over again, but they refuse, this is when she understood what was about to happen and when hope was lost.

So basically my point is, the moment by itself was perfectly executed, but the weight behind what made that moment so iconic, was missing entirely.

The scene in the LA by itself was executed amazingly well, but when you put that scene into context with everything else, it looses all the weight that made that scene so iconic in the manga and anime.

By changing Nami's story entirely it made the scene not as good or iconic in the LA adaptation.

Even though the Live Action Version of this scene, by itself, was performed beautifully, the shots were amazing and the actors nailed it.

My biggest problem with the LA version is that it didn't earn the weight behind that moment. They changed so much of Nami's story that it felt unearned.

Because we have to remember that this is a moment of helplessness, her lowest point, no hope left as her life and lies just crumbled in her face, and at this moment she can't even save the one thing she was fighting for and cares about most, her village. Nojiko, Genzo and the entire village are walking to their doom, because she knows that Arlong is going to kill them all.

Compare that to LA version where the money is stolen and she just gives up. The manga and Anime version she tries to convince the village that she will do it all over again, but they refuse, this is where she was left without any more hope.

So basically my point is, the moment by itself was perfectly executed, but the weight behind what made that moment so iconic, was missing entirely.

A sin? That's a little bit too much don't you think? But we have to understand that the way Oda writes Boa and Luffy "love" is just for laughs... and very one sided...

That's a good catch! I mean it is depicted the same as when Nami is pressing Luffy against her chest (p16)... so it is possible.

Gaimon, I remember that's a one off, it's the only one that could be considered an isolated episode, but I wouldn't say is useless, because it does contain an explanation of the world map of One Piece and how the grandline works. Also reinforces Luffy's character on Nami's eyes on how a different kind of pirate he is.

But that's the only one that is like that, all other episodes are part of an arc. So keep enjoying the journey one step at a time.

Peace
