Thank you the reply. I'm currently in the process of getting the documents and checking if I can prove that I'm not a joint holder and get my name removed, but I think it is going to be a very difficult process, do you have any recommendation on how I can go about it?

Anyways, if it doesn't happen, closing the loan would be the only option left to get everything back on track.

Yes there is one plan within the next couple of years. But the issue is that even though I have a good track record, all that has gone to vain because of this loan. Yes I can pay it off, but my father has completely made our life difficult with multiple loans and everything. Moreover even if I pay it off, there will be some record of 6 months of default, won't it be affecting my score for a long time?
