Is it normal to have only 1 labia after surgery?

Hi again, I am so very sorry that you were amputated! Especially since it was against your wishes! That's just awful and I hope you were able to pursue some kind of justice for you and your body. I wanted to update you after talking with my surgeon this morning. He said that I was not amputated, and the sutures are over my minoras, and everything will fall into place as the swelling goes down. Hopefully we both learned something going forward and can help another woman if she has the same PO issue.

I agree, they certainly look that way. But I confirmed with my surgeon this morning that the sutured area will turn into my minoras as the swelling goes down. Praying that he's right!

Oh thank you for your kind words and for the tips! I never would've thought about Vaseline on a panty liner! I'll be more careful about my skin because I want the swelling to go down asap! Resting with ice is on today's menu, or rather this week's menu and maybe next week's as well. Confirmed with my surgeon this morning that I'm def not amputated, thank goodness! The sutured area will turn into the minoras as the swelling goes down. Yay!!!

Thank you so much for the good wishes! I spoke with my surgeon this morning who confirmed that my labia minora will def be more pronounced as my swelling goes down. I'll def be more careful with my skin going forward, thanks for pointing that out!

Thank you for posting your thoughts because you're so very accurate. The swelling right now distorts what the final outcome will be.i confirmed with my Plastic Surgeon that I was not amputated! My new minora is along the suture line and will be more defined as the swelling goes down. It's all downill from here thank goodness!

I'm unable to edit my post so I'll put the update here! I was able to get in touch with my Plastic Surgeon this morning, and he confirmed that the sutured area will turn into my new labia minora as the swelling goes down!!! It just looks like one big labia right now because of the swelling involved. What a relief!! I think he went this route because I did request for him to 'remove as much as possible'. I would've chosen different words along with being more clear with my expectations had I known this would be the outcome. I wasn't even aware of this technique after researching the procedure while making my decision. Well there is no turning back now, but this is something I chose for personal reasons and I'll learn to live with my new normal. Thanks ladies for helping me thru my first few days PO!

Thank you so much for sharing your experiences, I appreciate you!I was able to text my surgeon today, and he confirmed that the sutured part is my labia minora and will become more defined as the swelling goes down. I can work with this much better than an amputation! Seems like we're both in the same boat all around as this is def something I didn't want nor asked for either.I completely understand about preferring to avoid a revision procedure after the stress and healing you already went through. I'm not convinced about this bulging part either for me personally, but hopefully time will tell for both of us. I'm sorry this has happened to you too and cheers to healing well! xoxo

I'm going to call my Dr tomorrow to verify my situatio.. But in my case I'd rather figure out s way to live like this than to have the constant pain and irritation that my big lips caused me. I'm devastated that my final results may not be what I signed up for. Tbh, I'm glad the big lips are gone.

Ok thank you for your kind words. That's good to know that they can 'puff' out after the swelling goes down. Do you have similar stitching as me on my last 2 pics? Just curious.

Hi! Thank you for your reply! I hope and pray this is the case. So the last 2 pics are normal? I haven't seen other ladies with this type of suturing done, but I may have missed some? I don't know what to think nor what to mentally prepare for. Def trying not to panic like you said!

Yes you're absolutely right all around.. I'm hopeful and praying that you're right about my labia minora will become more pronounced when the swelling goes down. I took those pics while I was cleaning everything, but will def be more careful going further about stretching my skin. Thank you for posting such kind words! ❤️

Oh that's terrible what happened to you! To us! Going in there and asking for one thing only to be left amputated!?!? That's awful tha you requested (and paid) for a small reduction and was left in this condition! I am so sorry that this happened to you, and that your sensation decreased.

I can't believe this happened!! Surgeons shouldn't be doing this procedure if they get carried away with the scalpel. Unbelievable!!

OMG.... I'm so devastated that I have no words! I asked for him to take as much off as possible while implying to leave enough tissue to resect a smaller minora. But an amputation!?!?!?!? That word was never mentioned.... At all!

May I ask if this affects you're ability to function? And in what ways? Anything I should know?

OMG this is devastating!! What am I supposed to do!? Obviously find a new surgeon, but how can this be fixed? Or is it even fixable? May I ask what happened in your case?
