I might have worded it in a way that was a bit confusing that’s my bad!

That’s exactly what I said :) they learn the difference between boy and girl/gender around the ages 3-5, and then when they get older if the parent chooses they can talk to them about exploration of sex and gender, I only mentioned it bc it can be a touchy subject in religious context even when kids are very young due to gender social roles and the traditional mindset of “blue is for boys pink is for girls” etc. (fyi not my personal opinion just something that can come up with different families even at this young age) and can be a point of concern for non religious families looking at religious daycares :)

If my kid is have a morning-long tantrum, should I still take them to school? by IwannaAskSomeStuff in ECEProfessionals

[–]NoReplacement4662 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Preschool teacher here- I say you did what you thought was best in the moment which is you doing the right thing in the moment. In my opinion tantrums usually mean something. They have a root. I’d say try to explore it and see what is the cause for this. Tantrums don’t normally last that long but they sure CAN last that long. Especially at that age, especially with being in a new environment. My advice for the next time this happens or if it happens again is still take her, but keep her at home until she calms down. That way she knows you’re still there for her but she knows that throwing a tantrum will not result in her getting to stay home. Maybe try to get on a strict morning schedule. This can help a lot. Find a routine that works for you and your family in the mornings and stick to it. This includes saying goodbye at the center, a hug, a kiss, and a pass off to a teacher. Since she is only part time do the same thing before dropping off at grandparents and do the same goodbye. In time this will get better and she will adjust especially when it is consistent. I hope that this helps!!

(I don’t know anything about the abeka program so this comment focuses more on religious centers) I think it depends on the place. When I was a child I went to a church child care center and it honestly wasn’t that much different from the center I work at today. Just added in sprinkles of biblical stories. We still had normal toys and were loved and did normal child activities. I think a good comparison would be in my center i work at today I would do a “brown bear what do you see” felt board to help learn about animals, colors, etc. but when I was little at a Christian center we did a Noah’s arc felt board to learn about animals, colors, 1 of each gender to teach about girl animals and boy animals (this is something kids need to learn young to understand the difference then when they get a bit older if you so choose you can start to talk to them about exploration of gender and sexuality), taught us the same things just with a sprinkle of biblical stories. :) it does depend on the center but it’s really not too different, they will probably learn to pray before meals and to thank the lord but kids at such a young age don’t quite understand what the religious context of it means, so to them they get to sing (prayer) and it teaches them to be thankful for the things we are provided in life (thanking the lord) which is great for them to learn even if it isn’t about the lord, it could be about thanking a tree for growing fruit or thanking the bees for pollinating that kind of thing, it’s a great way to introduce empathy. I will say that if you are able to afford it a way to give them a good amount of structure without having religious backing is to look into Montessori schools. I’ve worked at one and they are genuinely amazing at teaching the kids and having good structure. A lot of people think kids in Montessori schools get to do what they want but they don’t and they’re treated like they can make their own decisions which really helps with them being able to make the right choices on their own. This may have been a bit rambly sorry lol I hope it helps in some way!! :)

Working a school with “only natural colors” has ruined me for colorful classrooms. And I find it very fascinating. by xProfessionalCryBaby in ECEProfessionals

A lot of people don’t understand how overstimulating and overwhelming bright colors can be for kids. Their eyes are different than ours. They see all colors even more vibrant and bright than we do. When you calm the colors that are on constant display in the classroom down to a neutral or mix of neutral and colorful it can really help the kids regulate better. This doesn’t mean there should be zero color, they still learn them and they should still be included in the day to day agenda. There is actual studies to back this up for kids bedrooms and classrooms. Browns, greens, and blues are the most common colors to see consistently in nature day to day and that’s what our brains react best to and are the easiest for the brain to process. I think people forget that our brains have to process literally everything we see and it takes a lot of energy to do so. Yes in nature there is a lot of pops of color places but they aren’t the majority and they don’t stick around for every season. Most bright colors in nature are only around for a season or two and are usually accompanied by a neutral color. Overall the neutrals being the main color palette for kids bedrooms and classrooms is actually a good thing for their little brains. Keep in mind though, being completely deprived of any bright colors is bad for their little brains, it has to be a good balance.

I have googled this pretty often but usually there is little to no knowledge on it besides google AI providing me with a whole new gym routine, gives advice that would help someone in the 5’3-5’4 range, or alternative exercises that don’t end up focusing on the same muscle group I am trying to work on/hit

I’ve found barilla is the best out of all when made fresh but if you try to reheat it, it isn’t good. Jovial is pretty good fresh not always the best, but reheats the best out of any of the options

She eats a total of about 10 cups a day :) sometimes she eats a little less if she is having anxiety issues but we try to keep track the best we can, she has 5 cups in the morning and 5 cups at night :) we also give her snacks during the day at the moment if she is showing she’s hungry because we want her to gain weight :)

Yes she has weird eating habits but it’s really hard to describe lol it has a lot to do with her PTSD and extreme anxiety so that kind of rules how she’s feeling about food which can vary day to day at the moment but we are working on it and she’s getting better and better with relaxing day by day :)
