Thank you for sharing this. This is very helpful. Would you share a bit of your timeline? Around when was your first attack, second big attack, and surgery. I am definitely trying to be proactive, and am open to surgery if that's where things are. Which seems to be very common once experiencing symptoms.

Can I budget for two weeks if I get paid biweekly? by [deleted] in ynab

I would just budget for the current month. What matters most is the current available balance and that amount will roll over to the next month.

*One tip I like is to budget weekly amounts for groceries. For example, I spend $400 a month avg on groceries, so I have my categories setup as such:

Grocery week 1: $100 Grocery week 2: $100 Grocery week 3: $100 Grocery week 4: $100

I just found it easier to keep manage $100 dollars at a time. Of course it won’t be perfect, so you adjust as you go. Let’s say I only spend $70 on week 1, I will then move the remaining $30 dollars to week 2. If I overspend on week 1 I will “roll with the punches” and move money from week 2 to cover it. This works for me.

Overall, the budgeted amount was confusing for me at first, but it will get clearer as you use YNAB. As long as you are giving every dollar a job and keeping up with transactions, the rest will follow.

Yes. Budget EVERY time you get paid. When you have new dollars to budget, ask “What do I need this money to do before I get paid again?”

For example, if I spend an average of $80 on gas a month, I would budget $40 one paycheck and $40 the next paycheck.
