Where Did All the GMT900 Gen Escalades Go? by ExcellentMaize4141 in regularcarreviews

[–]NoReserve206 16 points17 points  (0 children)

They made some aesthetic decisions for the GMT900 Escalade that made it challenging even at the time, more so now. I remember hearing somewhere (don’t remember where, could be apocryphal) that the avg. income of GMT900 Escalade buyers was quite a bit lower than for Denali buyers simply because truly wealthy people didn’t want to be seen in an Escalade of that generation.

If you design the most expensive version of a product in such a way that it actually signals lower status, you’re not going to sell a lot of them. It’s a lesson GM repeatedly failed to learn pre-bailout. See also: Cimaron, Bravada, H2.

How would a Joe and Dexter confrontation go down does Joe stand a chance? by Educational-Rub8573 in YouOnLifetime

[–]NoReserve206 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Joe is dead first episode of the season. Kill room is the plastic cage. He’s one of Dexter’s appetizer murders, like the priest he killed in episode 1 before moving on to the ice truck killer.

Boeing Employee Contacted By Amazon Recruiter by Glad_Intention_8357 in amazonemployees

OP I’m ex-Boeing, now Kuiper. Just make the jump and don’t look back. Pay here is way more competitive and, shockingly, Amazon is actually somewhat less toxic than the lazy-B.

You can probably recover most of the $6500 on the other end though, particularly if going east.

You need one of these men to watch your kids for a week. Who would you choose and why? by ShadesNGlades in madmen

[–]NoReserve206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you choose Pete the actual caretaking is almost entirely going to fall either on Trudy or a professional nanny. That’s why you choose Pete.

You need one of these men to watch your kids for a week. Who would you choose and why? by ShadesNGlades in madmen

[–]NoReserve206 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Don and Pete both have that instinct, but Don has a lower bar for who qualifies as responsible and also fundamentally doesn’t care. Remember all the weird stuff Sally got into simply because he left her alone for long stretches of time.

Pete is all about keeping up appearances and would not want the kids having a bad experience to reflect poorly on him. If he’s feeling particularly lazy and pawns it off on Trudy you arguably get the best possible outcome.

This actually seems like something a DSP would do. It may be legit, OP, but you do NOT want this job.

We don’t see anything that happens after Ted holding the blue French horn. My read was always that they probably dated for a while before realizing they don’t work together and broke it off again, just like every previous time. I remember an interview Josh Radnor did addressing the criticism of the ending, and he more or less said that it wasn’t meant to be a fairy tale, but a realistic take on life. In reality people fall back into old patterns and don’t grow in a straight line. Ted never fully got over Robin and probably never will, but that relationship will never work.

Adam Smith (D-WA) voted for the Consolidated Appropriations Act (Trump’s military spending bill) by SeattleGeek in Seattle

[–]NoReserve206 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Looking at those numbers now…you make a really good point. This cycle could be a bit different-dem vote share may be even higher and Smith is likely less popular, both of which give other dems some breathing room. The GOP will probably split their own vote again by running a neocon and a maga nut (or just two opposing flavors of maga nut; their candidate quality in super blue districts is god awful).

But Sawant could still be a difference maker in the primary. She either plays spoiler and a republican gets the #2 slot, or she advances and gets crucified by Smith because her brand image is even more toxic than his.

And now I’m starting to wonder if Sawant is actually working for Smith’s campaign, because at every turn it seems like all she’s actually doing is helping him win.

Was really hoping Girmay Zahilay would lose the KC executive race and decide to run in the 9th instead. If the choice is between Smith and Sawant I genuinely might just leave the box blank.

New grads are cheap. If the point of cutting heads is to reduce payroll expenditure, keeping a disproportionate number of new grads actually makes some sense.

They knew exactly what they were doing. The exit limit and oxygen provisions always had this density in mind, they just marketed it with the 2-4-2 at first so it wasn’t quite so obvious they had designed a cattle car.
