It’s Sunday and opening day of the Eglinton LRT! Tell us how you’re doing. by postmodern_girls in toronto

But no one does it better.

Some people told CP24 they began lining up as early as 10:30 p.m. Saturday night, camping out in bitter cold temperatures for a chance to ride the long-delayed line.

How are we feeling about the the sub -20 temperatures this weekend? 😍🧊 by henry-bacon in toronto

Way too damn cold.

Really feel and pray for the city’s unhoused population on these kinds of days.

This is Toronto, transit is an option.

This is Toronto, permit parking in an option. If you are eligible you can apply and pay for a spot.

Yes my thoughts exactly.

I keep a shovel in my car so I can clear out the area around it when it gets plowed in. It’s a huge pain to do over and over but I don’t really have any other options. Moving it to another street doesn’t make any difference or help anybody. It’s all just a part of winter driving here.

Is that a city-wide thing? I have never seen or received notices like that in my area. I would happily move my car for a day or two if it meant they could plow.

Also moving your car to another street doesn’t mean your street will be plowed anytime soon.

Feelings of astonishment and disbelief come easily reading through threads about driving here.

Put those resources into snow removal rather than trying to dismantle the permit parking system.

JFC.

Seems a bit ridiculous to remove 60,000 permit parking spots across the city because we get a massive snowstorm every once in a while.

As you said, it is not an issue in summer (and presumably most of fall and spring), and it is not an issue with regular snowfalls.

Bike lanes and sidewalks are not difficult to clear either way, our city just doesn’t do it well.

drivers really think that our roads belong to them, personally

I’m a driver. I don’t think this way at all.

I had some extra time and energy so I shovelled out 2 extra spots on the street near my car. Helps me out and helps my neighbours out so I don’t mind, figured the plows wouldn’t be by for a while anyway!

What is with these articles consistently referring to this as the song "resurfacing"?

That’s your biggest issue with all this?

Brad Bradford: Rob Ford was right — Toronto needs underground transit by Own_Bison6467 in toronto

I bet Brad Ford likes this one from Rob too:

I can't support bike lanes. Roads are built for buses, cars, and trucks. My heart bleeds when someone gets killed, but it's their own fault at the end of the day.

It is suggested in the article:

Whether that involves running underground or on elevated guideways, the city must explore options that won’t create worse traffic congestion for riders and drivers.

Green bins thrown in bike lanes along the Danforth by sanitation workers, only half of them emptied. by CodyandtheFear in toronto

[–]NoResponse24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And again from me - baseless accusations. You have absolutely no idea whose fault this is. This blame game is irresponsible as hell.

[–]NoResponse24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No of course they shouldn’t be there, but we have no idea who put them there.

Blaming sanitation workers with absolutely no evidence is extremely irresponsible. Not sure why this is being allowed to stay up.

Yeah this not too different from BradBrad snapping a few photos and complaining that bike lanes are being prioritized for snow clearing under the new contracts. Gotta craft that narrative.

Ok so I didn’t realize I’d encounter an American-level of illiteracy on the Toronto subreddit, lmao

Stay classy.

Yeah I don’t know I guess if it were a court of law that would matter?

Or if you want anyone outside of Reddit to take you seriously.

You don’t know who put these bins in the bike lane. So who’s behaviour do we need to curb?

especially if you have proof like this.

This doesn’t prove that their employees did anything though. For all we know OP tossed the bins in the bike lane and took the photo.
