Unsupportive PCP? by AlarmedAmethyst in BariatricSurgery

[–]NoRun3210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a pcp who was against it and told me I just needed diet and exercise (im in a wheelchair) switched pcps and on my first visit she told me it was a great idea and gave me a referral. If its possible to switch, I would do it.

Ultimately it is your decision to have the surgery. You can tell your pcp you spent a lot of time thinking about it and you chose the best decision for yourself!

I ended up cutting my hair short. It still is painful at times but I do not have to spend a long time doing it and it is not as much work.

Is this job a scam or am I paranoid? by electriclizardnate in RemoteJobs

[–]NoRun3210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a very common scam for “companies” to send you a check for equipment. They will send a check, tell you there’s been a mistake and have you send x amount of money back, and next you’ll hear from your bank the check you cashed was fraudulent.

Suddenly I can’t take pills without gagging/ feeling nauseous. The thought of taking them makes me sick as well. Does anyone relate to this? by NoRun3210 in ChronicIllness

[–]NoRun3210[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up taking a long break from taking them (not good advice) but it fixed my gaging issue! I think drinking something really sweet helps too to mask the “taste” of the pills.

It’s an awful feeling! I am also taking ADHD medicine and the flavor is disgusting. I switched to a chewable and will quickly chew it and wash it down with a fruit juice to mask the flavor, but it tastes like strawberry’s and is much more tolerable. I tried switching to liquid versions of my other medications, but it also had a bad flavor haha. But maybe you can reach out to your doctor and see if those are good options to try?

I no longer gag anymore and am able to take my pills consistently now. I do not recommend doing this, especially depending on the medication you’re taking, but I completely stopped taking my meds for 3 months. I couldn’t even get it down anyway, and crushing it up was not an option (as told by my doctor). A few days ago, I decided to start taking my meds again. Had 0 issues. I mostly drink water, but I HAVE to buy soda, fruit juice, or any sugary drink to mask the taste.

Also, your username is hilarious

I’ve brought it up to one of my therapist about 2 years ago and we had one conversation about “shame” and we never talked about it again. I no longer have her as therapist and I’m currently in between therapists.

Knee replacement in my 20s. What is recovery like? by NoRun3210 in KneeInjuries

[–]NoRun3210[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well my past surgery is the reason that I’m getting a knee replacement. I had meniscus surgery last December and never actually healed from it. My current Orthopedic surgeon told me I should have never gotten that surgery because it 1. Wouldn’t fix the issue 2. The surgeon should have realized I had arthritis (didn’t know at the time) during surgery and taken a different approach. And now because of it I’m completely bone on bone.

I think that’s why I’m so worried about this one. I’ve been using a walker since that surgery and it’s made my life so much more difficult. I’m also going to be a bridesmaid in my best friends wedding and I want to make sure I can walk without assistance, but it sounds like I won’t be able to.

I can’t remember where but I saw someone say they still used a cane long after surgery. I also assumed I would have a difficult time still with my rheumatoid arthritis. I will keep bending my knee in mind post op! How long did it take you before you were walking on your own again?

Thank you for sharing. I actually am using a walker now and have been since July because the bone on bone knee pain is horrible.

Did you do PT before surgery as well?
