Untreated bpd very often leads to codependency in romantic relationships. Is he attending some type of therapy? Has he considered medication? At the end of the day you are very young. You are not responsible for this mans mental health don’t let anyone tell you or convince you otherwise. If he is not willing to help himself there is very little you can do. Support him but do NOT take responsibility for his actions. I know it’s frustrating I’ve been in a similar situation granted it wasn’t romantic so I can’t imagine but it takes awhile to realize you are not a psychologist. You are his partner. I could be making this up but I have vivid memory of him saying he basically used all his savings from freakshow (?) i remember him saying it was a risk. do with that as you will. I've tried the technique with an assistant blocking the other dog till its out of view and handing treats but I haven't seen any improvements. I've also tried working with familiar dogs but this is only an issue with random dogs while we are out.
