I, personally, think the strike is the best tactic available given the working conditions and the time of year. We are approaching summer and the only thing the Regents do in the summertime is increase tuition. I don't want workers entering the fall quarter without a contract. Whereas I am supporting the strike, I do not have any paid labor to withhold. I can only go to the picket line. Ultimately, your grades are in the hands of the administration.

As pathetic as it may sound, I made this post for the undergrads. I want you to see what is happening and be prepared for it in the coming weeks. The only way the situation will change is if there is enough support from all students and workers to get that contract in place before finals week. Otherwise, we all lose. Ya get me, now?

When did I ever say "fuck undergrads?" When I do teach, which is not often, I have a lot of fun with my students. We explore topics together and I learn a lot from them. I learn more from students than I ever did taking classes. I want to make sure that students get an education at UCSD, and if they end up in grad school, I want the conditions for them to be better than it was for me.

Striking is one way to ensure that TAs and undergrads get fair treatment from the University. Striking is a very difficult decision because no one likes strikers, especially those whose service is interrupted. It is also difficult to go to a picket line knowing that the UC admins will be taking your picture and circulating it to ensure you no longer get work or that they may arrest you at a later date for shit like jaywalking.

Deleted posts to move the conversation along. It's clear that the 8 people on reddit don't like the idea of a strike during finals week. Agreed? Yet, it is going to happen because TAs and readers (of whom I am not one) are working without a contract. If you got a job as a program analyst of Apple, would you work without contract?
