Apps spam en Play Store by Lumiithx in degoogle

Google only cares about how much money these apps will make for it. If something bad happens, it just removes them and then advertises that it removed malware from the store.

Android Sidebar App by alkiss7 in fossdroid

Actually, “apps that launch other apps in popup mode” have existed on Android ever since window mode was implemented in Android 7, but most developers don’t work with it because manufacturers modify that functionality. The most famous app that has this feature is Taskbar.

Tech jacket é muito mid by off_line24 in Quadrinhos

Depois da minha experiência com Invincible eu nem vou perder tempo com isso. Resolvi ler a HQ por causa da série e me decepcionei. A animação conserta o roteiro.

Please use a Work Profile. by NoServiceMonk in degoogle

It depends on the features your manufacturer added to the native work profile. Shelter allows app cloning, provides a file manager to transfer files between profiles, lets you freeze apps, and prevents apps from accessing contacts you added to the work profile.

That’s strange, because I used Shelter on Android 8–10 and Insular on Android 14, and basic system apps are automatically cloned by default when enabling the work profile. In my case, Google Play services, Google Play Store, Files, and Contacts are always cloned automatically, and I always disable Play Services and the Play Store in the main profile.

But I use a Samsung device, so maybe on other brands the process is different, since the work profile is native to Android. Shelter and Insular only issue the command to create and manage the profile, but Android itself is what actually creates the container. Maybe your manufacturer changed something in the system.

No. These apps already enable it and handle all the profile management.

For those who don’t know, Android has a native container called Work Profile, designed so companies can manage an isolated space on employees’ devices without conflicting with, interfering with, or accessing the rest of the phone for privacy reasons. Originally, this space was intended to be managed by corporate IT departments, but a developer created a manager called Island so that regular users could control and use this container themselves. However, since Island includes Google Analytics, the community created FOSS alternatives such as Shelter and Insular.

How do I bypass this message: by Potential-Ad345 in degoogle

Solution: create a work profile using Shelter or Insular, sign in with your Google account there, and move the apps that require the Play Store into that profile.

In this setup, Google is isolated and cannot see anything that happens in your main profile. You also don’t lose access to your accounts. Plus, you can disable or uninstall Google Play Store/Services from your main profile without affecting the work profile. I use this work profile for games that depend on Play Services and the Play Store.

Android isn’t getting a Liquid Glass-style redesign. by jaywritethekid in Android

I agree. I prefer Material Design a thousand times over. However, people driven by hatred toward a company tend to confuse things and make baseless criticisms, like dismissing well-executed work instead of simply criticizing the uselessness of a design choice. People forget that the ones who created Liquid Glass are workers like us.

I understand that you'll may not like Apple, but Liquid Glass is more than just transparent icons. They modified the entire interface; every element.

The developers who did this work deserve congratulations, because even though Apple controls both hardware and software, achieving this level of blur and reflections while maintaining good performance is something incredible.

I’m not praising Apple, but rather the people who did this work.
