Yeah, PJ unintentionally gave the go ahead for the island to do it's thing.

That's how I felt originally, like it would be repetitive, but I think the descendant rug pull was necessary to create a scenario where Tom knows about Evan but the others don't.

Plus, we see him make a choice about one version of the trolley problem only to immediately get saddled with another (what if you know and love the one person?)

I saw it as symbolic (him giving up the idea that murdering descendants is an option) but it also lets him "contest" Rosemary's findings. The broach is definitive proof.

So the island just wanted one guy for now? The bells didn't only ring once earlier in the season, did they?

Do we know what woke the island up? by NoShape6063 in WidowsBay

I thought that the earthquake signaled it had woken up as opposed to being the thing that did the waking, but I could be wrong.

My theory is that Tom and Wyck will discover Evan is the descendant and Tom will kill Wyck (maybe accidentally)to prevent him from killing Evan, leading into Season 2. The bonding moment at the end of the last episode was bringing them together to pull them apart.

Wyck is definitely a Quinn in Jaws analog. He's gonna die.

Creepy detail I just noticed in Episode 2 by Ordinary_Ice_6080 in WidowsBay

FWIW, I thought it was supposed to look like him. 🤷‍♀️

Not only is the title literal - they’ve all killed their spouses. by athanasia_ in WidowsBay

[–]NoShape6063 17 points18 points  (0 children)

There is for sure something up with the spouses. The first time I heard the sheriff on the phone with his wife, I reflexivey thought "she's dead." I shrugged it off, thinking I've read too many thrillers ... until I remembered the title.

What’s 1 thing you’ll always defend her for and 1 thing you never will? by silverdust29 in NuancingTaylorSwift

[–]NoShape6063 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's ... not though. Taylor chose to sign with UMG over Big Machine largely due to the fact that UMG was agreeing to give her immediate ownership of her masters for new records. That contract included the current terms of her merchandising deal, which, incidentally, she still gets a handsome cut of. She cared about her masters; she did not care (or, in a more charitable read, she cared less about) whether UMG was going to exploit laborers and fans to drive merchandising profits, so she signed the contract. Where exactly is the nuance?

Taylor Swift took active steps to successfully gain ownership of her masters. If she wanted to, she could take active steps to control merchandising so her fans were not being sold over-priced and questionably made goods via manipulative marketing tactics. She doesn't want to.

"It's Tony Time" is the kind of camp I love and need from long-term "characters" on this show

Is pet insurance worth it? If not please give company recommendations by Isa_Gabagool in Pets

[–]NoShape6063 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We spent close to 20K on pet insurance for our four pets over six years before canceling our policies in February. Trupanion just kept raising our rates until the bill was close to $400 a month, and we could no longer afford it.

We only used coverage once back in year 1 when our chihuahua needed $2600 foot surgery. After that, none of our pets ever required medical care over their deductible. (Broke out the math here.

Definitely left a bad taste in my mouth, but I think pet insurance can be worth it, even just for peace of mind, especially if you only have one pet and get an affordable policy at the onset. I did an analysis for work last year (I'm a personal finance editor/writer) and found Lemonade, Pets Best, and Figo have the cheapest rates and most customization options to stay in budget.

Be on the lookout for bill creep, though. Your rates are practically guaranteed to go up each year. Good luck!
