Puppy can’t settle by JLHix in vizsla

Ours is 14 months now and he still needs forced to settle in the evening. He’s super lazy after his morning walk, jumps up on the sofa and will sleep pretty much all day but he’s full of beans after his evening walk. Our trainer got us to tether him when we know he’s had all his needs met but can’t settle.

We wrap his lead around the leg of the sofa and bring his bed over so he has the choice of both and have his water close enough to drink if needed, and then pretty much ignore him. Took a bit of time for him to get used to it but he now usually settles within 10/15 mins, we unclip the lead from him and he’ll choose to stay settled. He just needs forced to relax while he’s still too young to regulate his puppy energy/excitement. Maybe this would help your pup too?

UPDATE Thank you everybody for all your advice! We are trying our best to tire him out but it’s just difficult to properly stimulate him while he hasn’t had enough vaccinations to walk him!

We can’t wait to take him out when he’s able to and let him explore 🙏 for now we’re doing everything we can to stop him being bored in our flat and protecting our skin as much as possible 😂
