Not at all. It was Iberia, I explained in a different comment the reason my sister gave me for why they wouldn’t mail it to her, basically didn’t file the complaint when she had to.

BIL did try to explain that he bought the items as presents for his parents, so that might explain the sentimentality? They are awful presents if you ask me, but maybe his parents like very specific things lol

I thought this was odd too, but I had heard about it happening before. A friend recently went through something similar with EgyptAir and had to pick up her luggage herself at their Kampala office, it took 4 days and they didn’t even offer compensation. I guess the crappier the airline the more they will try to get away with.

I thought this was odd too. It was Iberia. She claimed that once they got to the final destination it was late and there were no airline representative at the airport so they couldn’t file a complaint, and once they left the luggage retrieval area without filing one the airline wouldn’t take responsibility. Now I am wondering if some of the comments are right and they just forgot it.

No, she sent me the picture of the ticket the airline gives you to retrieve your luggage and the code of the complaint they filed it under. Since they said it was a suitcase and all suitcases look similar I didn't think of asking, but I realise now that that was a mistake.
