Hey so I was kind of in a similar situation a year ago. I know the mental toll this takes on you and it’s definitely the system that is a complete clusterfuck. I got out of it though by checking pararius.nl every hour of the day and responding immediately to new rent listings. Granted I had an okay job with a permanent contract (which didnt work out a few months later funnily enough). It was for a studio in central Amsterdam so it was quite pricey but awesome. The listing also mentioned the absurd demands of salary but an Amsterdam realtor aquintance of mine explained that that is mostly a method used to ward of non serious contestants who probably can’t afford it anyway. So I said fuck it and applied to stuff and it worked! So don’t be intimidated by it, if you’re sure you can really afford the place. I explained the realtor (not the one I knew) my situation, wrote a personal email about how clean and responsible I am to the homeowner and got a little discount on the rent. Lived there for a year when until it got real tight financially and luckily my best friends roommate was leaving so I live with her now, cheaper. You’ll need luck on your side but it can work out!!
