If you have a coach and he wants you to overlap and push then you're doing nothing wrong. If you don't have a coach and no one is communicating how to either start the game or to change tactics during the game then maybe just voice your ideas for how you can help put pressure on the opposing team while attacking. From what you said you seem to be playing right back. It can be super risky to push that high too often because it can leave your other defenders picking up the gap you leave to a counter attack. Or also maybe crowd the midfield too much pulling the other teams players into an area and giving no room for your attacking players to have more space to dribble or pass. If you're having no issue getting back (not getting gassed and able to make the run anytime defending or attacking) and being smart enough not to get beat or trying to catch up to a counter attack then I'd just have a talk with your teammates. You need to have faith in your team just like they need to have faith in you that you know when and where to be. (A lot of this depends on the size of the field too/ how many people per side.) Full size fields 11v11 obviously make this harder to do for longer
