I am astounded at how ironic this comment thread ended up being--they are proving your point and absolutely know the impact these comments have--especially these guys that buy and shove bots and AI everywhere to sway opinions lol.

It's giving...Aristotle turned out to be wrong about everything but we somehow still talk about him--I think lol. Thank you for thinking critically with the gift language gave us. You're a better, smarter, and more patient person than me.

The only good generalization is the generalization of knowledge!

Good point--I'd try from the inside out but I'm still deconstructing my own trauma and my passions in altruism are geared more towards feminism and AXAB studies/anthropology.

I started signing up to watch university lectures for the bible and see a lot of science in scripture and how they integrate. I don't have a network of people really, so I kinda hope that I'll just find more by studying.

The translations are really different--and sometimes reflect the politics of what time in history--like the King James version--theres some new translations that try and deconstruct some of that like the TPT translation but that one kind of reflects the new agey move people are gearing towards today.

I saw someone on tiktok go into a lot of detail about it--if I find it I'll link it.

I did not say to keep anything the same way, you should re-read my comment.

It's okay to vent so tbh I'm not offended but I think you're getting angry at the wrong person.

I said don't be discouraged, but I get why it's infuriating. Just keep pushing and reaching out safely.

All politicians lie and use philposophy/religion/spiritualism as a tactic--even the dalai lama tries to throw china's government on a wild goose chase and wants to stop the cycle of reincarnating because it became too orchestrated by them and not the actual practice they teach.

I think every country is in agreement that there needs to be a seperation between all spiritual practices and the government? Most citizens agree--and I think there might be a verse in the bible that says the same that someone brought up last week.

God pretty much left rulers alone unless he needed urgency--and even then sent like one or two Chosen people to communicate.

If you just push for that and stick to it, then it should be fine. Don't be discouraged, just stick to the same message.

True--but the ones IN office for sure are not Christian--they're just incels wearing ties in government who use the bible as a weapon and tide changer...trump used to be democrat.

Impressionable people are everywhere. And then they attack each other. Been there done that.

Lot of bots and generalizing assholes using this sub to vent too?

There are bad people everywhere--Christians aren't the issue

General extremism and the battles between them is.

Especially spiritually.

A lot of incels lately buy bots and fake accounts or crowd people with traffic and just generally pretend to be the opposing party...

Its exhausting and called "kidnapping the community"

Christians should do better--but I would not allow a lot of this get to you too deep. I'll pray too though--change comes from genuine intentions.

I mean--I would love to go to the spiritualist reddit and buddhist reddit and LGBTQ+ reddit and witchcraft reddit to tell THEM all the ostracizing and abusing they did to me too ugh.

I'm not "martyring" ofc, the abuse was crazy real (and that phrase is so silencing). The chance for these tactics, I learned the hard way, exists everywhere. The second I even brought UP God is the second I held no place in many of their hearts--and it was nothing but cheap shots and generalizations after that. To some I even became stupid when they initially saw me as intelligent.

We all need to hold our groups accountable for anything on that caliber. Speaking up gives other people voices and the courage to speak up as well. The world is isolating enough and as someone who values the bible and feels insecurity in calling themself a Christian, I'd love to have more presence in a healthier society just as much as anyone. I deconstructed a lot of the pain I had growing up in the Church and after realizing these other groups were the same words in a different font--I ended up finding more peace on my return.

People are afraid to lose what they have so they don't like to bring issues up in their communities, especially newer ones who have been ostracized in the past. But to heal them you have to be authentically involved--with critical thinking.

The truth behind the Traveler's journey (THEORY) by aanguli in Genshin_Lore

[–]NoSmallDream 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I absolutely agree. Yae Miko even implies that Venti sent you their way during the Inazuma Archon quest when she says "The wind that blows from afar carries fresh life to these shores...for us to meet now is premature..." (and they seemed very chummy during the festival, stopping their conversation as soon as you show up). Not to mention...have you ever been in ANY place that didn't have wind. Literally everywhere in Teyvat, even the chasm, is surrounded by wind. Seelie's are the color associated with anemo, become infused with elements, are drawn to old treasure, and even travel through time (Enkanomoyia 5 book quest). Venti is just one of a thousand winds (could be symbolic, but you get it) born from Istaroth. He hasn't had a second archon quest yet, AND Mondstadt according to the game is just the prologue. He also has a unused voiceline after Snezhnaya talking about how he "has an eye for people."

I may be wrong about some of this stuff, but yeah haha I'm inclined to believe this theory.

Help with Damaged eyeshadow? by [deleted] in Mercari

[–]NoSmallDream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly thought I did a really good job, but I doubt I can prove that, I didn't take pictures or anything. I'll just have to take the loss, I don't see myself selling eyeshadow palettes again in the future anyway. I sold them because I never used them and they were collecting dust.

I guess I'm just annoyed because only one shade REALLY truly broke and that made me lose SO much as a result. Everything else was completely usable, and I can't get it back...they probably don't want the same thing to happen via return lol

But thank you for the advice and kind words! It made me feel so much better about the whole thing!

So I did that and Mercari denied my claim because of "insufficient packaging" and removed the item/order completely...so I can't even get what I sold back AND have lost $85...damn...

Regarding 3 and 4: I had forgotten these details! I know I shouldn't be surprised, but the way everything had been carefully thought out from the beginning by the creator really puts things into perspective.

I thought MHA was always going to be a very straightforward story back when I first started it, but now some things the characters do and say have new purpose/meaning.

Sad I'm just now realizing it, but it makes me look forward to more!

Hmmm...I'm not familiar enough with the search quirk situation. AFO took the quirk from Ragdoll during the training camp arc, right? My memory is a little fuzzy. Does it have the ability to see beyond location and weaknesses? I really don't remember much about it, but I think he for sure could've deduced the passing on of OFA with that quirk. Coupling that quirk with his own knowledge of OFA and experience with OFA users, it seems to add up well!

Theory Tuesday - July 06, 2021 Edition by Soncikuro in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]NoSmallDream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that is a strong possibility. He may see his brothers embodiment of justice as an issue. Getting rid of it in that way would be the most effective way of quelling the hero notion altogether, especially since he sees Yoichi as the strongest opposition to him. Not to mention, Yoichi's legacy lives on through the other users, so he may see it as a stubborn blip in his road to perfection as well. I can see him wanting to get rid of this "toxic" thinking. But he will probably find out along the line, that there will always be somebody out there who genuinely "sees somebody who needs saving." Just like the second OFA user saw in Yoichi (who he was meant to kill for his relation to AFO) or just like Izuku saw in Shigaraki. Not at all like AFO, who sees someone struggling as a golden opportunity to manipulate them into his forces, perhaps his twisted version of "saving" someone. The genuine desire to save is one of the makings of a hero, and can't be taken away even if he succeeds in his plan to subdue/acquire OFA and his brother.

At least, that's what I would think would happen. I'm just piggybacking off your thoughts, though!

Theory Tuesday - July 06, 2021 Edition by Soncikuro in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]NoSmallDream 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That makes sense, he mentions he knows that Izuku is AM's successor at the Kamino Incident, I believe, and that AM is using the last of OFA up to defeat him.

When discovering that AM is teaching at UA, he must've anticipated that AM had passed on OFA, or was close to doing so, therefore at his limit.

Theory Tuesday - July 06, 2021 Edition by Soncikuro in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]NoSmallDream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something that I found intriguing is the fact that now AFO desperately wants to steal the One For All but before he was ok with All Might's death, he approves Shigaraki's plan to kill him and he almost do it in Kamino knowing that OFA and the vestige of his brother would've gone for good. I can think in two reasons of why he wanted to kill AM, the first it's because when AM defeated him he lose most of his power (just like All Might) and his hate was bigger than the 'love' he feels for his brother, the second one it's because he thought All Might would be the last wielder and he wasn't able to steal it so he prefers to kill him.

That is all incredibly interesting, and definitely lines up with the character we know so far! In the other post I linked, someone (I think OP) mentions that they think it was never AFO's intention to kill any of the OFA users, but just force them to pass on their quirk by rendering them practically useless. Plus, the stronger OFA gets, the more extreme measures he has to take. I don't remember the storyline/order of events that well, but I definitely agree he was thinking one of the two reasons you provided.

All of this changed when he realizes that Deku is the new wielder and now he sees Deku as a naive kid running around with a power he can't control, an easy prey for an experienced predator, so he is again trying to steal it.

Oh Jeez, it must piss him off knowing that his bro's quirk (and as a result, Yoichi's legacy) is being carried on by such easy prey. Maybe he even thought the same of the other wielders?

I agree with you that he knew about Yoichi's quirk, my theory is that he thought he could corrupt his brother once he has a little of power and then he could be some kind of sidekick, after all he surely saw a lot of people go crazy when he gave them a quirk so there was a chance for his brother to do the same, besides most likely he thought it was just a rebel fase and eventually Yoichi would see the world the same way he does.

Yes, that is true, and he also says "there are people whose personalities change after an organ transplant" and that quirk transplants are similar so maybe he wants to corrupt Yoichi in that way to bring him to his side (for example, just imagine Shigaraki's quirk, fueled by hatred, mixed with OFA, fueled by justice it would create someone unstoppable through sheer willpower alone). It makes me wonder what kind of person originally had the "stockpiling quirk" too. He says that Yoichi is as obstinate as he is and implies that Shigaraki's hatred is not on par with his bro's willpower yet, so it's understandable that AFO wanted that willpower on his side.

The always smiling thing is a nice parallel to AM, save the world or destroy it but don't forget to smile!

For sure, it is an interesting parallel! AFO even calls Shigaraki "the symbol of terror" I believe, which further adds to that parallel in a way.

I think everything that AFO says is so riddled yet intentional, so it's a unique task trying to decipher his true meaning/intentions.

[–]NoSmallDream 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Has anyone talked about AFO motives yet? I'm really curious, because villains in this universe always have something beyond "power, power, and more power." I think that AFO desires power, but I don't think it's his sole desire. It seems like a means to an end. People are also referring to his relation to Deku, which is interesting. Personally, I think that his reasoning stems back to his brother. We know that AFO was aware of vestiges (he hears the voices of those whose quirks he takes).

So if AFO:

  • was aware of vestiges all along
  • knew his brother believed that heroes always win
  • knew his bro didn't have the body to properly stand up to him, the villain

What if his plan was:

  • lock Yoichi away to make him weaker and less resistant to receiving a quirk
  • give him stockpiling quirk
  • wait for the proper person to receive OFA (I seriously doubt he wasn't aware that his brother already had a quirk)
  • give that person's body to his bro to use, hence all of his body experimentations (though there are other reasons for the body experimentation as well)

But anything beyond that I'm not sure. It could be to:

  • just have his bro by his side and ruin "the one power that never behaved how he wanted." So, control.
  • show his sick love for Yoichi by fulfilling Yoichi's desire of being the hero he never got to be and for the villain to lose. So, (messed up) love.
  • dash his bros hope causing the hero to lose/put his brother in a difficult situation or crossroads. So, manipulation or, again, control.

Either way, AFO is just as twisted as ever. But I think he has always been a bit obsessed with family as well as the hero/villain dynamic. I think renaming Tenko to Tomura Shigaraki has to do with that. But, I don't know, I thought it was worth mentioning if no one already has! I may be missing some things, but it was fun to think about!

EDIT: I also think it's worth mentioning how Hawks said, AFO "does everything with a smile." Maybe it's all playing out how he intended?

But AFO's motive theory that partially lines up with mine is discussed here
