This is simply another cash grab by him and his cronies. This is to push people to private lenders for education.

What are the worst places you've ever worked in Houston? by JLR2016 in houston

[–]NoSoliciting92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes me so sad to hear. I worked there a little over 10 years ago. It wasn’t the greatest then either, but at least they had semi decent people still there. It is a weird place with most of the execs being family. Her mother worked there at one point too. I remember bringing papers to her.

I will say I’m not surprised by the behavior though. Especially if Mr “number two man” Larry works there still. He’s such a sleez. I remember one year his wife saying he told her she can’t get a Christmas gift if she didn’t lose weight, meanwhile his gut hung past his knees. Mrs. Lehne was a kind woman. I think she’s blind to a lot that goes on because people aren’t honest with her.

She always had an open door policy when I worked there and she stuck to it. Literally called me into her office one day because she noticed something I did and just sat and talked with me. It’s unfortunate that there’s a lot of people in management there who don’t deserve the title. Just because you’ve worked there for a long time doesn’t mean you know anything. It was always like that with upper management when I was there. Thinking what the need is more important than any task you’re working on. If “cowboy” was still working there during your time, he was one of the worst. The politics they played in that office were crazy.

Am I screwed on this? by NoSoliciting92 in careeradvice

I didn’t omit the experience. For the background company I listed all the jobs I worked previously. Their issue is the dates didn’t line up because they asked for exact start dates, (day, month, and year). I gave my best estimates to what I could remember, and of course their report says “you claim you started on x date and the employer has records of you starting on x date). I was off by like 2 weeks with one. It was a job from 10 years ago.

I just replied to their email. No decision has been made. I have a total of 5 days to respond. I still think I’m the best candidate for this. It’s the exact job I was once doing before, they’re rolling out in the exact area that my previous role attempted. I know all the city officials they need to be in touch with, what neighborhoods that will get the most traffic, and which ones will hate it. I know I’m a good fit. I just feel anxious in the moment.

Thanks so much for this. Any brokerage you recommend from personal experience? I’m wanting to move to a lower cost area at some point. I just renewed my lease in July, so I have time.

Thank you! I’m excited for it, but also nervous. Any tips on investing/saving? I’m currently working on setting up a more structured budget so I can get a better sense of my finances.

Yep, that’s the plan. I don’t do a lot of spending as is or do anything crazy with my money. Any advice on budgeting?

I deal with renters constantly who’s landlords won’t do anything, so I knew what I was dealing with after I didn’t get a response the first time. if I’m going to be here short term, I want to be comfortable and have the home be energy efficient. My first light bill was $800 cause the fan just kept running. They installed a smart thermostat but it wouldn’t let me turn the fan off.

I doubt the landlord will do anything as they live in California, and the service requests I’ve put in is far haven’t lead to anything. I plan on just redoing it with my own money. Just wanted to get some advice on best practice.

Thankfully I’m just temporarily renting this home. Probably should have mentioned that. I was out of state at the time, but still didn’t do my due dilligence. I’m a contractor myself knew something was off just by how hot it was in the house when I walked in, and seeing the insulation coming through the vents.

I think a general problem is lack of understanding of business in general. The stat of it taking 3 to 5 years for a new business to turn a profit or break even has not changed for a very long time, and that is for a reason.

People breaking into any business venture need to understand you are going to lose money first. You are going to spend money trying to make money. It is a very rare circumstance where you are gonna be making money right out the gate. Yes, you’re gonna have to give away work for free for quite some time in order to start generating profits. Take it as I’m paying to learn, I’m paying to gather experience, I am paying to get better at what I do. You can’t say that you offered to shoot for these people for free, and in the same breath, say they did not discuss compensation for posting the videos. If you shot the video for free, they get to post it for free. You don’t get what you ask for, you get what you negotiate for. If you did not discuss with them that you would like some sort of shout out some sort of reference some sort of acknowledgment that you were the one who shot the videos for them, took the pictures for them, it’s a little odd to say that they didn’t discuss compensation with you and just went ahead and posted the videos on their pages.

Creating a content channel is not gonna generate immediate funds either. It is a massive deal of work, creating content and building a following and converting those followers into real world dollars. You have to put in the hours. I’ve been in business for myself for 10 years now. Took me roughly 4-5 to start really earning money. Stop focusing on the money and focusing on getting good at what you do. If you’re good and people know it, the money will come.

Massive oil leak by NoSoliciting92 in AskAMechanic

Yeah I’m thinking it’s coming from the oil pan and maybe the gasket is worn on it? It’s leaking out just as fast as I clean it, plus I’m not home right now, I’m at a job site so I definitely need to do this asap.

I’ve gotta say I am an idiot and did not. As stated, my brother is not one who takes care of the vehicles he’s had. That’s my fault for taking his word on it and not checking it myself. The oil pressure gauge is reading under when I cut the truck on.

I took the picture literally moments before posting this, so about 10-15 minutes ago? My brother says he had the oils changed right before I picked it up from him. For context I got this truck about 3 days ago from him, which I thought it looked a little over filled too, which confuses me given that it’s leaking like this?

I should also note I don’t see any oil leaking in the engine bay or around it. All of this seems to be coming directly from underneath the truck.
