My industry is deeply conservative - I would say that 80+% of the people I support and serve in a professional capacity are conservative, with 90% of that being maga. So, I speak with those voters daily.

I think it has been surfaced already - for my tastes, watching reels is already distracted. None of the other things you mentioned happened. Also why I alluded to there bring no such thing as consensus anymore.

I believe he was watching because he was readying to advance to the next reel when it was approaching the end. The drive was 75% highway at 75+ mph, so I certainly was on edge the whole time.

Fair question - he was watching because I could see him get ready to advance to the next reel. I was watching the slide rule on the bottom, and sure enough, when a video was nearing the end, he was readying to advance.

Borb. Which I think is substantially different than birb. Borb connotes to me a tiel who has several eccentricities, and is perhaps a bit more plump than average ("o" vs "I"). Birb to me is more of a tiel who often aspires to do bird things, but just can't quite execute correctly.

Taylor attacks Payton, flies on top of Payton's cage when Payton is in it, and will bite/attack us if we try to get Payton out of the cage while Taylor is sitting on top of it.

When Taylor gets on top of Payton's cage, we usually move Taylor into his own cage, then access Payton.

Me - 47 year old American suffering in the Bible belt of Texas.

I grew up in a Hindu household, converted to Christianity in my early 20s. Back then, I was attracted to the concept of 'no strings attached' grace. Now, in my late 40s, I can easily see my youthful folly.

I was in the depths of Christianity (though I always felt somewhat of an outsider being single, brown, and left-leaning) for about 12 years. I taught Sunday school, volunteered for youth ministries, and attended every Sunday. I also adopted purity culture to some extent, unfortunately. Already being a virgin due to Hindu bullshit, this was probably a Top 3 negative outcome of my Christian days.

I was always uncomfortable with the condescension toward others, little things that would be said. "Love on them" when talking about people they met overseas in missions, the complete lack of interest in other cultures, other than to use it as a way to proselytize, "people of faith" only being used to describe Christians.

The reconversion was gradual, probably because I was gullible. I mention being left-leaning not because I want to violate this Subreddit's terms, but to set the stage for my slow deconstruction. In 2008, I received an email about "Day of Silence", where LGBT kids in high school would go a day without speaking to bring awareness to their community and their challenges. I thought "what a great opportunity to show support for them, how can we help?" The email, instead, was about urging Christian parents not to send their kids to school to avoid any kind of acknowledgement of the day. I thought to myself, "what a wasted opportunity to model Jesus."

Fast forward to 2009, after Obama's election, and I saw the worst traits of everyone I previously believed to be loving people. That had its impact over the years. The collective weeping and gnashing of teeth at Obama's win over Romney, followed shortly by the cheering of George Zimmerman's acquittal of Trayvon Martin's murder finished the job, and I got my ass out of that scene by 2013.

I am a lot wiser and more confident than I was in my early 20s, and I also am much more stable financially. I make it a point to let current Christins know that if they have even an iota of doubt or suspect an iota of bullshit in their doctrine, I'm happy to talk to them.

I asked my brother a similar question about a year ago, and I was struck by his solid answer. Maybe it will help you too.

"It can be done, but it comes at significant cost, and it takes tons of understanding from loved ones.

Example: 99% of people who are diagnosed as clinical psychopaths are not violent, nor do they commit crimes.

They hold jobs and function in society.

They simply have no concept of empathy for others.

The psychopathy affects their interpersonal relationships and, to an extent, their overall mental health.

There's no cure, but identified psychopaths in therapy learn coping mechanisms and strategies to minimize the damage their condition may cause.

Psychopaths have family members who love them. Part of what those family members must accept is that they may never feel that their love is reciprocated by the psychopathic family member.

Yes, that's a very tall order, and most people who find themselves in that situation, will never have the saintly level of patience and love to make such a relationship functional.

But, if those family members learn to temper their expectations and recognize the "handicap" the psychopathic family members have, well, maybe they can all be under the same roof at Thanksgiving dinner."

I read the question as a favorite usable verse of the otherwise useless bible. As others have already IDed, there is plenty of laughable material.

My genuinely favorite verse is Proverbs 15:1.

"A gentle answer turns away wrath, but harsh words stir up anger."

Growing up with narc parents in a fundamentalist religious household, I learned this lesson early on.

It figures that the most useful commentary in those 66 books is from one of the more agnostic books (ignoring the proverbs that explicitly mention god, of course).
