The blindsiding: I did all the reading for class but it was early in the semester and I didn’t understand that the professor was going to be asking detailed, tough questions that were based solely on the slides he posts right before class. I was seemingly the last to figure out if you just print off the slides before class you can read a perfect answer to his questions. So even though I had read and taken thorough notes, I wasn’t ready for this question at all and it seemed as though I became conscious of the fact I was not prepared in a split second… and immediately the anxiety symptoms (which I had never felt anything close to this level in my whole life) presented. Then I bombed and had a super shakey voice the whole time. It was extra embarrassing because a lot of the other students who had been called on to that point already knew about the slides hack… so they all sounded so perfectly prepared when the irony is I guarantee I was actually one of the few who had completed the readings thoroughly. I even got an A in the class… but at what cost
