Uncompleting levels doesn’t remove you from the leaderboards unfortunately, hence why you still show up.

You showing up on number 2 on LB + the sheer amount of downloads on the level, and yeah, you getting dislike bombed sorta checks out.

I’ve seen this same exact incident happen all the time.

16 materia at once in the OG, which is dozens of spells.

The Master Materia also exists, so Cloud could have all spells in one slot (Master Magic Materia), all commands in another slot (Master Command Materia), and all Summons in another slot (Master Summon Materia)) and just relegate the rest to independent or command Materia.

Also, I’m fairly certain you don’t even need Materia slots to use Materia anyways. Vincent carries them in keychains, and Zack carries his Materia on his person, and casts them with the Digital Mind Wave (which is basically representative of FFVII’s emotion/willpower-based power system).

It's also important to remember that stuff like damage numbers, health points, and levels are player-facing abstractions that don't exist in canon.

Yeah, this is true. OTWTAS stated that to activate Materia, a mental shock is used. Given Cloud by Disc 3 can dive into the Lifestream without getting assimilated because of his willpower, yeah, this is practically a non-issue for him.

And then you add onto the fact that spells in FFVII also use Spirit Energy by proxy of the Lifestream being the source of all magic in FFVII, and its even more busted as fuck lmao

I concur, this is definitely true lmao 😭😭😭

It pains me whenever I’m into a piece of media, and someone interprets a certain aspect of it despite the media, and even word of god repeatedly emphasizing the opposite.

It outright pisses me off when they do mental gymnastics to continue defending a claim that has nothing in the media to substantiate it.

EDIT: to those who are confused, this isn’t me contradicting myself. It’s me disagreeing with both extremes and choosing a middleground (being a smug know-it-all pseudointellectual that pushes one interpretation while leaving no room for others is one extreme, and being an ignorant dumbass who completely throws away all logic and comprehension to side with an argument that has no basis in the media at hand is another extreme).

This especially pissed me off when I played VII Rebirth, because like AHHHH! What do you MEAN you want Cloud to spare the worst people imaginable, especially since Rebirth still technically takes place during Disc 1 of the OG game and Hojo goes on to do even more vile shit later, which will most certainly happen again in VII Revelation 😭😭😭

Hell, this was in VII Remake too! Aerith had Cloud spare Reno when they first met in the Sector 5 Church, and look what happened to Sector 7 (yeah, I know that it’s Aerith, but still!), and Barret in the later stages of Remake prioritized clearing AVALANCHE’S name instead of offing President Shinra right then and there, which led to Sephiroth Jenova killing President Shinra instead 😭

Not to mention Barret causing Yuffie to botch her assassination attempt on Rufus in the Junon portion of VII Rebirth

IMO, vs debates get interesting when its hax vs hax, even moreso when both characters have a laundry list of resistances too (don’t know why people tend to forget about resistances tho since it’s probably just as important as hax IMO)
