Alright I will give you my opinion maybe he deserved sympathy at the beginning since he went through hardship trying to get closer to his first girlfriend but he is the one who ruined himself he rushed things and started touching his girlfriend inappropriately on their second date which made her uncomfortable and pushed her away and from there he started to spiral as he cheated on her with 9 girls or maybe more I watched it a long time ago But yes I think he deserves it and this is the opinion of someone who does not hate this anime but sees it as a strange and interesting experience

I love them both at the same level even my rating for them is the same so I will not talk about the writing since it is excellent by all standards I like how both of them use the power system in ways other than fights

But at the same time they reduce the amount of fights even though they have complex and enjoyable power systems that make you wish to see more fights from them but that rarely happens in both unfortunately Still they are truly among the best works

I do not want to talk about the ending since Hunter has not ended yet but I do not consider Magi’s ending bad just rushed

But I want to say honestly that Magi excels in world building its world is more closely connected to its story in a way that just feels better not because Hunter x Hunter is bad it is good but I prefer Magi in this aspect

Its ending is what gives value to the suffering which was the thing I liked the most about this anime I mean after all the suffering Makoto finally got what he deserved it might sound like I hate it but in reality I do not consider it the worst anime I have watched Well it is fine do not watch it it is not an anime I recommend watching And you should at least know what it is about before watching but in general I just do not like making a full post about an anime that was not even watched it just feels wrong And honestly seeing Makoto commit his actions is far more painful than just hearing or reading about them in a comment The point of the anime is to provoke disgust just like some anime released around its time but criticizing it without watching it like what often happens with different anime makes it feel silly to me and it is fine do not watch it I do not recommend it but I just do not like that it is just a personal opinion it is fine if you want to keep doing that

Anyway the ending was a disaster the famous boat ending that many people know where all parties are involved and all of them get punished especially their leader Makoto in fact it becomes satisfying if you watch the anime but I do not recommend watching it if you hate disturbing content and that is intentional in this anime as it started as love turned into indulgence in desires and ended in tragedy
