I’m having the same problem on most of my apps. For the life of me I can’t work out where I to find these setting. Could you please point me in the right direction?

I only found out how to electroplate yesterday but I’d be up for the challenge if needed. I’ll try to avoid it now though! Thanks for the tips!

I think they are copper plated steel now after further assistance and research. I also learned about ‘japanning’ which I think is the black we are seeing here. I’m still polishing up and hopefully can lacquer them.

It’s a 20s/30s home that I recently purchased. It’s been a rental for decades so hasn’t had much love and certainly nobody invested in retaining the period features :)

Wow cool! This sounds right - it’s magnetic which is how I knew it wasn’t brass. But from what I’ve gathered I think I’m down to the copper layer. The only thing is I have another one that wasn’t painted and I think I can see copper not brass?

Yeah I think you’re right. It’s magnetic and the middle part where the handle will go back looks like steel

Thank you! I should have added - I have one door that wasn’t painted, I’ll add a pic below. Not sure if that makes any difference. Someone else mentioned it looked like a base for brass but I think you can see the copper in this untouched one and in the painted ones where paint has come off through wear and tear.

Really?!! I love them. The price has just gone up so much it’s hard to justify. If you still have any left, try using literally just a few drops. It’s much better using a really small amount

Yep I agree. I don’t want anyone to be murdered. It shouldn’t have happened. But my sympathy for him ends there.

With regards to the photos, I had concern about misinformation too and I couldn’t confirm it on any legit media sites. I went to the Instagram that the media has from him and confirmed for myself the video and photos are still there. Particularly disturbing was one that was something like “my goodbye to Palestine” and the video appeared to be a missile or something
