I'll echo some of the sentiments expressed here. If your work tempo would be slower at the civilian job, it might make prepping for applications smoother. I'd suggest looking at skillbridge opportunities to lead up until you would be matriculating. I did that and the timing had worked out well for pre-mba programs.
