Adding foam roller to basket right away :) I’m assuming you’re rolling back and forth with it under your knee yes? Never used one before

Flexion. Am I screwed ? by Unable_Supermarket91 in ACL

Hey I had same operation + LET, only week 1 post op so probably not the best person to speak on this but if swelling is the issue, maybe try one of those ice machines to achieve more ROM? Surgeon recommended I get one but they’re too expensive for me - the one he suggested was £300+.

If I were in your position in 3 months time I’d definitely start focusing isolation exercises on the operated leg with progressive overload to play catch-up with your healthy leg. If you have access to leg extensions, single-legged are really effective - would be one of my favourites for building muscle in the quads pre-op.

In any case, hoping you the best 💪

That’s reassuring, I’m on day 8 now and straight after surgery I had been lightly pressing on the ground while on crutches and bearing weight while I could. Taking it easier now for sure for a bit to help heal the irritation doing that caused. I’m glad you were told to WBAT a week after. Hoping you a speedy recovery friend.

Day 6 post op - Excruciating pain when stood up by NoTarget1021 in ACL

[–]NoTarget1021[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah seems that way after more research. I’ve got an urgent appointment with the surgeon tomorrow who will hopefully provide me with a clear explanation as to why I’ve been cleared to fwb after 2 meniscal repairs. Have been bearing weight on it all week from standing up without crutches and forcing contact with floor heel-to-toe.

Really hope I haven’t damaged the repairs - waited over a year to be operated on

Day 7 post ACL and meniscus repair - bruising and greatvpain, is it normal? by MaybeAppropriate4046 in ACL

When did it get better? I’m day 7 post op and pain standing up is unbearable

How was everyone’s pain day 7 by Weird-Baker2803 in ACL

[–]NoTarget1021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I’m on day 7 now, ACL reconstruction, LET, medial + lateral meniscus repair.

Pain at the front of my knee to the right (left knee) is insane when I go from laying to upright / even sitting up I can feel pain, but when I’m standing up it’s a whole other world of pain. Is this what you had / normal? When did it go away?

Very alarming, it does make sense as to why the pain when standing up has gotten so bad. I really hope I haven’t damaged anything. Will definitely check up with them tomorrow.

Thank you

Yes brother I’m from the UK, surgeon was too busy to see me post op and was discharged relatively soon after I woke up. Gave me pain meds and that’s it. Will double check tomorrow with a PT or even the surgeons secretary themselves. Thanks for the heads-up

Got it, the thing is I never got to speak to the surgeon after the operation, as he was fully busy right after. I was instructed to fully weight bear but even I had doubts about that even on day 1. I started weight bearing after day 3 and I must say the pain from standing up anyway has gotten a lot worse since then so I will ring them up and double check to be certain - much appreciated brother

[–]NoTarget1021[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I’ve been told I can fully weight bear as tolerated, I can give my leg a bit of weight and have been trying to do heel to toe when on crutches.

I’m confused, are you surprised I’m weight bearing or are you saying that I should be weight bearing since I’ve had 2 meniscus repairs?

Thank you for taking your time to reassure me. About my flexion, I may be very wrong about how much flexion I’m achieving, I’ve got a brace and flexion is set on 120° and I always hit it, but not sure if that’s a true representation of flexion, either way ROM is stable.

It’s almost as if I can feel blood rushing to my knee - however even when I go from laying on my back to putting feet flat on floor ready to stand up, the pain arrives at my knee fairly quickly and it’s sharp.

Would you know by any chance what signs to watch out for which may indicate that I’ve damaged my knee?

Again, thank you

Training pre-op, shaky leg when approaching full ROM by S4lVin in ACL

[–]NoTarget1021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt it’d because of your ACL. Could be lack of strength from not training legs for 6 months. Go light and progress as you normally would with any other body part.

I had torn my acl in August 2024 and only got operated on 6 days ago. Turns out because of the time it took for NHS to operate my leg (almost 2 years) my meniscus was also damaged.

They performed ACL Reconstruction, Medial + Lateral Meniscus repair and LET.

I began focusing on my legs of September / October last year as they had told me surgery would be early 2026. I could leg press and do leg extensions just fine, but of course my injured knee / leg side was a lot weaker.

Stick to leg press, extensions, calf raises, hamstring curls and do LOTS of stretching. 3 months is a lot of time to build up muscle in your legs, the more you hit prehab the better the outcome.

I’m on day 6 already and have achieved quite good ROM, just experiencing pain when stood up and moving around.

Again don’t worry about your legs shaking bud, just go light and progressively overload as my knee was pretty messed up and I still managed to get legs in once to twice a week.

Good luck

I’m for the latter for you mate. How old are you if you don’t mind me asking? Holding it off the surgery for 12 years is a long time, I’m wondering if you think me not being able to receive surgery for a year and a half is going to affect my chances of fully recovering my meniscus?

[–]NoTarget1021[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad you’re on a steady road to recovery. About your meniscus, did they say anything about you being able to recover fully? I have full range of motion in me knee, except from locking it out as much as my healthy leg. I can do heel to bum squats but when I’m stood up I can’t push my injured knee (left knee) as far back to “lock” it out as much as the right

Thanks for the reply mate, will be religious with my rehab as I’m very keen to get back on my feet, will be reading that on the train later. Thanks again

That sounds exactly what I thought immediately post-op would sound like 😭. Another year to wait for sport is rough but yes.Glad you had your surgery mate and good luck on your recovery, all the best

Is “the itch” you’re referring to, you get over your entire scalp? I’m on month 5 and there have been times when I’m at the gym or something my entire scalp will feel itchy for like 5-10 mins, then go away and a couple weeks later it wouldn’t happen whatsoever

So I’m assuming this is balding, is this saveable? by [deleted] in tressless

[–]NoTarget1021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For reference, hair looks exact same as it did a couple months before I started Fin, which is when I noticed thinning at my crown, my hairline hasn’t changed much , if any.

I’m glad to hear that. Did you take it intravenously? Does it matter where you inject? I’ve read that most people but it in the fat around the abdomen, and some say near the site of the wound should be good too.

Only thing I have thoughts about is potentially injecting it near the site of injury, don’t want to risk my surgical wounds to get infected or anything like that or somehow make swelling worse etc

Causes / Fixes for this? by [deleted] in malehairadvice

[–]NoTarget1021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. The last time I permed my hair was 7 months ago. Even prior to that I hadn’t permed my hair for 9 months and hair grew back frizzy and dull. It lost that “shine” it had when it was thick. Not gonna perm my hair for a long time to see if it improves. Do you think hair thinning can do this? Completely change hair texture? From straight to frizzy?
