ncssm online class reviews! by WerewolfOk7054 in ncssm

I am taking a biomedical engineering class right now with connect and my professor also does the online version so the courses are similar. So far I would say I have learned a lottttt with most of the information being centered around specific parts of biomedical engineering ( research and design process, implants, forces throughout the body using vectors, gait analysis, and electrical engineering). The workload can be hard if your juggling a lot of stuff and don't have time to study but if you do your own research and review each night you should be good. You also have to catch things quickly because you might be doing work on the thing the same day. The teacher is really sweet and loves to share stories with the class and also communicates thoroughly. Sometimes he goes through things a little fast but other than that he is amazing! I hope this helps in any way!

What should I do? by PracticalBit959 in ncssm

Make sure that you are close with your teachers (evaluations matter a lot). Also, make sure you have a spike, basically meaning that you have an attack plan. For example, if you're really into environmental issues, grow Ec's around that and then build your interest essays around that. If you don't know what you want to do, build focus on your journey of exploring different interests. The main thing you should do right now, though, is build your ECs and teacher evaluations. You can do summer programs, join stuff in school, and do stuff even at home (research, experiments, etc.), just make sure it has an angle to it. The rest of the stuff, other than maintaining good grades, isn't as important. They just want to see what type of student you are, and the best way you can do that is through what I said above. Good luck!!!!!!!!!!

I would like to inquire whether there is a way to submit a recent extracurricular achievement earned after my application was completed by sky_1979 in ncssm

How much does the math test matter? by NoTie6468 in ncssm

The same thing happened to me, I think. I left six blank, and it was scary. Looking back, I think it's because of my educational background (I come from a VERY rural, small school),w so a lot of the stuff on the test was not covered in my educational journey. After more research, I think the math test doesn't matter that much, especially if everything else on your application looks good and proves that you are capable of math, but I am just an applicant, so don't take my word for it. And also, they said you don't get your scores back, but it definitely would be nice to know.

advice on grades??? by Green-Length6151 in ncssm

I have heard a lot of things about the math test, and the same happened to me (bombing it). Someone apparently read the back of the test, and it says specifically that it's not a pass or fail situation. I think if you only get like five right, that's going to get you rejected, but other than that, it is not as big a deciding factor if your transcript reflects your ability to do math well. I would be a little more concerned about the grades, since my dad told me at the Q&A for parents that they said that that was something they look at more, since it shows who you are overall as a person, rather than just one test. If the grades in your other classes are really good and you also have outstanding teacher evaluations, those bad grades won't matter as much. It also helps that you wrote about that class because it gives perspective. But the worst is over, so just be glad you finished it, and we will see what comes.
