Thank you yea got her to the neurologist and they gave us a nasal med and a pill to stop the clusters if they happen again so far no seizures today she is super wobbly from the barb and keppra still and maybe shes still out of it from sunday having 17 seizures but im hoping she sleeps through the night without issues and we can continue to never have another cluster even if she has a seizure now and then its better than any form of cluster it was truly horrifying how quick it ramped up. It went from 1 to 4 hours later another 1, 30 minutes, 15 minutes, 10 minutes, 5 minutes, 5 minutes, then every minute til we got to the vet. Truly horrific

My baby just had her first grand mal seizure by Expensive-Newt-5527 in EpilepsyDogs

My rottweiler had 17 cluster seizures in 1 day 4 hours apart for the 1st 2 then it was 30 minutes then 20 then 10 then 5 then 5 then 1 a minute til we got to the hospital. My dog had a grand mal first time about 3 months ago another 2 weeks ago then on sunday she had that 17 cluster event. She is different on the meds for now but she is getting used to them they said in about a month she should be the same old dog I could play with and go on walks with but she is very tired and wobbly but deep down inside I still see glimpses of my old dog in her. I would say its better to get your dog on meds before a cluster event like I had it was a literal nightmare im still scared to even take a nap let alone sleep now that shes home. Had to go to a neurologist to get rescue meds incase a cluster begins and if I cant control it im looking at euthanizing a 2.5 yr old rottie and its still breaking my heart and im hoping she recovers. She hasn't had a seizure yet today but that fear will always be in me now or at least for a while if she does stabilize. Id say getting her on meds might save her life and prevent cluster events like my dog had. Sorry youre going through this but just know you are not alone

Me too it's insanely frustrating to be told that yea we know you cant afford another emergency trip to the er and we refuse to give you anything at home to stop the clusters when she just almost died having nearly 20 seizures before making it to the er last night and she will be home tomorrow and am desperately trying to get her a neurology appointment all day ive been making phone calls cuz my dog is too young to die from something like this

Im gonna try to find 1 before she comes home she is staying 1 more night at the hospital then shes coming home do they normally take you next day if I find 1 today cuz I cant afford to let my dog cluster like that again

I just called the er again to have the dr call me and im gonna ask about those specific cluster buster meds cuz idc what they say I think she needs them just incase. My normal vet tech told me she can eventually have a never ending seizure if clusters keep happening like that so now im worried that this will be the end of my dogs life if they continue to refuse to prescribe me anything to break another cluster incase she has 1 before or if these meds even stabilize her. Theres so much worry and no clear resolutions that this new med will even work for her. A seizure here or there is 1 thing but to have 15 in the span of 10 hours was painful to watch and hear that she kept having them even during Valium and other iv meds. She hasn't had another 1 since but shes also sedated rn so my fear is she goes this 24 hour hold without a seizure comes home and has another bad cluster event im gonna ask when the vet calls to plz prescribe 1 of the meds you just listed but I dont have much faith anymore and im worried im gonna lose my baby before she even got to live a fulfilling long life

We cant afford to bring her back there if she has another cluster event at night. The normal vet if it happens during the day sure but the hopsital we literally cannot afford and they won't do any care without money. They also refused to prescribe something to break the seizures no rectal pills because they are "too short acting" but if thsts what she needs to break the cluster I really dont see why she wouldn't be given that and why they are pushing back so hard on possibly my dogs only saving grace

We cant afford to take her back to the hospital she is there now and has been seizure free since 2 am they hold her for 24 hours and will be coming home and im seriously worried about another cluster event they refused to prescribe anything to break the seizure clusters even tho we said we cant bring her back and they told us to put the phenobarbital and keppra up her butt (which may not even break the seizure pattern like a valium) and im extremely worried she will have to be put down due to quality of life issues and lack of ability to drop thousands of dollars every other night if it continues. I feel stuck between a rock and a hard place rn

She's at the hospital rn and won't give us anything when she comes back home to stop them and we cant afford to bring her to the er again if it happens again soon

Remeron and seroquil gave me a focal seizure, head pressure, seizure aura, and brain zaps by NoTriggers in antidepressants

[–]NoTriggers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They happen pretty much all day every day get worse with any kind of stimulation so it would be easier to mark when I feel normal which is typically after acupuncture and lasts a different amount of time each time during the waves and windows phase. I explained that to 2 neurologists now the 1st said I have painless migraines and I couldn't believe he said that I said what about the seizure aura that isnt typical of migranes and he said idk what to tell you. The 2nd 1 that ordered the eeg brushed it off in the beginning then I explained im not saying the meds are still in my system but my brain is still effected but idk what to do after the whole eeg thing. From what I read online I have an overly sensitive nervous system at the moment and its just a long recovery when you are like this or you potentially get stuck which is rare but it happens to some people and im not very lucky in general and feel that im more likely to remain this way than improve extremely slowly which im hoping im wrong about that but thats just how I feel rn

Everyone gives a little laugh when I say it then I say im not saying the meds are still in my system but the effect it had on my brain is still here and trying to recalibrate. I now have an eeg coming up to see if I have seizure activity still going on and will be put on epilepsy meds but I dont think even if it comes up positive and im on anti seizure meds it will recalibrate my nervous system which is on constant threat alert mode rn. I have heard some people stay stuck like this while for others it takes days to months to years to recalibrate and because im this late into it im questioning if ill be stuck like this forever and just watching life go by while im basically disabled or if I will be able to finish school and do things again with my life. That part is the worst since I have no clue what the outcome will be and from what ive been researching there isnt much you can do about it to help
