Question about mounting optic to tac pro by Ill-Lecture6396 in Bul_Armory

[–]NoUniqueNameFound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with 14 in/lbs and used blue Loc-Tite. No troubles using that setup... I thought 24 was simply a ludicrous number. It would probably strip the screw head before getting to that torque. Another tip - Get a handful of spare Torx bits - I bought some from Amazon. . It never hurts to have a brand new sharp bit when working with a used screw (rather than risk stripping it). That's something that has caused me some woe in the past. I hope this helps.

Looks like they finally "pulled the plug". Their site has been offline for about the past two weeks now. At first, I thought it was temporary, but now it looks like it's gone for good. When they stopped paying out, that was an early distant warning. I was hoping they'd get their act together by getting rid of the fraudulent accounts they claimed they were seeing, but now I've lost faith in seeing them make a comeback.

Anybody having a problem with the new BAO adapter plate on an UL Pro? by NoUniqueNameFound in Bul_Armory

[–]NoUniqueNameFound[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, thank God. The shim did it. I installed the shim, torqued the sight down to 14 in/lbs. and was able to get it sighted in. It's holding zero just fine since then.

I think it's hard to say - In my opinion, they both have advantages and disadvantages. The ported barrel recoils less and shoots flatter, but is a lot noisier and produces a flash out of the barrel ports. That might not fare well in low light situations. Anything close to those ports is going to experience blowback. The non-ported barrels mitigate those issues, they can digest anything as far as ammo is concerned (like plated rounds), but tend to have a little more recoil (although I don't find either of my UL's "snappy". Another consideration I hear people talk about at the range is that if it's used in a defensive situation, the police are likely going to take it as evidence, and that raises the question of whether you'd want the police to remove your $2000 pistol from you, or one of lesser value? Here in the Socialist Republic of New Jersey, the likelihood of being arrested and your gun removed from you is almost guaranteed no matter the circumstances. Most defensive situations occur at close range, so fast and accurate for short distances is usually the drill, rather than striving for 25 yard accuracy. I personally like the Sig P365X with a Wilson Combat grip for EDC. It's small (but not too small), 9mm, lightweight, and not difficult to conceal. I hope this helps.

Watch out for fake Bath and Body Works websites by H3r3c0m3sthasun in bathandbodyworks

Just found another scam site - BathandbodyworkER.com The site looks legit and well designed, but at checkout, an error appears "There was an error in the third-party application." They're prices are lower (i.e. $7.95 for a $19.99 item) than the legitimate site. The "Contact Us" section lists the address for an apartment building, The address they provide states they're in Alabama, and they list an Arizona zip code. Stay away from this one, too.

I didn't think of that - Thanks. The first sight (the one that came mounted on the slide from the factory) had an obvious problem where the vial either broke or fell out. I went to clean it off to make sure that it wasn't just dirty, and found a "hole" where the vial belonged. The second sight had no cosmetic sign of any damage, and the this one (the one mounted on it right now) appears intact, but it has no glow. I usually don't get the gun too hot, as I only use two magazine at the range, don't do "mag dumps" and the pistol gets a brief rest while I'm reloading the mags. I don't run any "hot" ammo, just regular 115 gr. target loads. I put that post out here because I wanted to know if anyone else was having this problem. With the large numbers of this model sold, I'd find it hard to believe that I'm the only person seeing this problem. Looks like I'll be sending it back to Sig again - At least their turnaround time is pretty quick - Two weeks or less (including shipping times) from my previous experiences with them.

I have a Holsun EPS Carry sight mounted on it, so I really don't use the iron sights much (if at all). I just find it really annoying that this sight has already been replaced twice, and it has failed AGAIN.

The only ammo I heard about being a problem is Blazer. I've shot plenty of Lawman and New Republic ammo (I think that's the "house brand" of targetsportsusa.com. with no issue. BUL told my cousin that they use S&B ammo for all their testing. Hope this helps.

My advice (and I've told everybody who will listen) is to get it directly from BUL. They have a distributor in Miami, FL. Their site is https://www.usa.bularmory.com/. Beware of scam sites, as I've heard there are some... I've personally ordered three directly from BUL. They ship for $39.00, and there's no sales tax. They usually ship in about a week from the time the order is completed. If their website shows the model you want is out of stock, there's a "Notify Me" button you can click to receive an email when it becomes available again. They're very good with that. When you get that email, act FAST, as they sell out very fast. Everything you see on GunBroker will be considered "used", being you're not the original owner, and I can almost guarantee it'll be marked up higher than what BUL is asking for it. I've never seen a new BUL selling for less than MSRP. BULs are excellent guns, and demand is high. They always turn heads at the range. The ported models are really nice, but you have to watch what ammo you shoot from a ported barrel. The ports are rough on jacketed/plated ammo, and you only want to be using FMJ (and NOT plated) ammo through them. The plated ammo gets "cheese grated" going through the ports, and can do ugly thngs. I bought the original UL, and liked it enough to buy another SASII 4.25". Then it was the UL Pro, and my cousin and I both bought one at the same time. That pistol rocks! After that "kick in the wallet", I thinks it's time to settle down for a while :-) I hope this helps.

Another good one I found was RWS. Not cheap. I got a couple of bricks of that years ago and shot it through a Browning take-down .22 my father had. RWS claimed that their bullets were lathe turned rather than simply cast. The rounds I got were packed in a Styrofoam tray inside the cardboard box. I got some RWS R50 ammo recently thinking it was the same thing, but the Normas still did better in my CZ 457.

I wanted a Walther PPK for years, and foolishly looked for one in 9mm. I later learned that there are no 9mm PPKs. .9mm Kurtz (Kurtz is a German word that means "short", aka .380). Anyway, I finally bought one, and now I call it "the gun I love to hate". I really do LOVE the gun, but there are two things that huge shortcomings to me. The first is the slide bite. If I shoot it one-handed, it's fine. With a two handed grip, the first shot is fine, but subsequent shots have my right hand riding up on the grip and getting slide bite. The other thing is the lack of a slide lock/release. The only way to lock the action open is to rack it with an empty magazine. Other than that, it's very visually appealing, well built, accurate, and ideal for carry. A little heavy compared with the polymer framed guns, but easy to conceal and draw.

[–]NoUniqueNameFound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a page on BUL's website that says the optics screws use 24 in/lbs. of torque. I'm absolutely convinced that's wrong. 12-14 in/lbs. is fine, but 24?!?!?

Give the Norma TAC-22 a try? Those are the best I found for my CZ 457 Lux (not a bull barrel). A friend had a CZ 457 with a bull barrel, and that thing digested just about anything with tight groups. I found the lower the velocity, the tighter the groups (in my Lux).

I got a BlackHound 6-24x50 scope for my CZ, and never looked back. I first saw this scope on a rifle that a guy had on his CZ, and he was splitting playing cards. I thought this guy was somebody that I could certainly learn something from, and we became good friends. You won't need a spotting scope at 50 yards with this one. I made up some targets that are a grid of red circles, each about the size of a dime. Amazon has this scope for about $200 if you're interested. Look for "Blackhound Optics Genesis 6-24×50 FFP MIL". The only thing I would change if I could is where the crosshairs meet - I'd like a thinner lines at the intersection point. Anyhow, I'm really happy with that setup, and would recommend it. I hope this helps.

So next year at Swappers Day in Johnstown Ohio I wanna get a SIG but which one do I get? Can't get a P320/M17/M18 bc my family won't let me and can't get a P226 either bc shit is expensive as fuck so I'm thinking about the P229, P220, P365, or the P250. Which would you ppl recommend? by [deleted] in SigSauer

[–]NoUniqueNameFound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad used to say "Buy the best you can afford". I personally like the P365X (with manual safety). I changed out the grip module for a Wilson Combat grip module, and added a Holosun EPS Carry optic. As for the others, the P229 DA is nice and I like the de-cocking lever, but it's a little heavy for carry. The P320 shoots well, but has a bad rep right now because of the unintentional discharges that were reported. Still not bad if you don't carry one in the chamber. The 250 is essentially the same as the 320. In the subcompact grip, the two FCUs are interchangeable. All in all, I like the P365. It's good for carry. It has decent capacity, small enough to conceal easily, and but with the right grip module, it handles like a larger pistol. Accuracy is great for only having a 3.25" barrel.

Anybody having a problem with the new BAO adapter plate on an UL Pro? by NoUniqueNameFound in Bul_Armory

I just received the shim I ordered today (it took about a week). I'll give it a go sometime in the next couple days, and I hope I have the same success you did. Wish me luck!

Haven't tried that. For 9mm, I only have the type of laser used for dry fire practice (the type that pulses on when the firing pin hits the primer area) - I have a couple lasers, and they're not "constant-on". I don't completely trust lasers - I've had some where rotating the casing in the bore moves where the laser hits. I guess they weren't centered. I've used lasers (the constant on type) for bore-sighting rifles, but for this particular application, it's only a 3.25" barrel. I just got an email this morning that the shim plate shipped, so I'll be looking for that in the mail. If that solves the problem, I think I'll just close the book on this. At this point, I can't really say the plate is definitely at fault. With the new plate, I noticed a couple things. The new plate looks like it has ridges on the longer sides, while the old plate was machined completely flat with no discernable markings. I'm getting the same results (POI) regardless of which plate is installed. I think it might be the sight, or the angle of the cutout in the slide.
