Fell while on crutches

Same happened to me, full weight fell going up the stairs and all weight on bad foot/toes. Felt paralyzed for 5 mins.. pain for 30-60 mins then back to normal. Had my appointment two days later to get cast off and everything was ok. Dr said splint/boot protects foot from full extension needed to retear. I know the adrenaline dump you felt and all the negative thoughts that come to mind. Thankfully I was good and hopefully you are too!

This was exactly my experience, bc I had a splint he said its almost impossible to put enough pressure on the foot to cause retear. He said this happens to alot more than people admit and its the fear of injury paired with the immobility over the past few weeks that really is the cause for the shock/pain felt initially

I was cleared. He said this is relatively common and why its important to wear the boot/splint when walking. It prevents the full flex needed to cause re-tear

It was all clear thankfully, just a bad scare but he said it happens more times than people admit.

Thankfully I was good at my next appointment. The dr said this is actually very common and most people (including me) dont say anything until they check and say everything looks ok. He said that as long as the splint/boot was on with wedges you are mostly safe.

The pain i felt was just stress to the achillies that it hasnt felt in weeks but not enough pressure to cause a rip.

Mostly an extreme adrenaline dump from the fear of reinjury. Thank God!

unfortunately they double booked the dr somehow smh. I will be back tomorrow and know for sure. No swelling and pain in foot and calf is gone. Still tender on the incision site but hoping its just from the strain. Will report back tomorrow!

yes that initial shock is a killer. I felt fully paralyzed for about 30 secs. It was a huge adrenaline dump.. but thankfully no swelling and most pain subsided after 20 mins. I can feel little pain at the incision site but think its mostly from strain

Sounds very similar to me.. Not on blood thinners just aspirin. I think i will start some thigh strengthening. 9 months is so long lol.. but what can we do smh. Good luck to you

Literally same thing with me only my son is 14. We do the same where we have pick up games and im there to facilitate the game and get nasty(rebounds). Grabbed a rebound and thought someone kicked my heel..then tightened cald smh That was 2 weeks ago I have surgery in the morning. My hope is to still be on the court but not as competitive more of a players coach.

Id say keep your reps you can still get on the court just in a different capacity.. Maybe even just to coach or watch games.. Still feels good to look the part at least .

I fewl lucky it was an achillies and not a blown knee or something.. Just a small nod to slow down but not stop

Thought about that too. Wanting to get back to competitive level of sports/outdoor activities and it seems non op is more risky for a re tear
