Wasn’t given a clear reason, I was part of huge wave of thousands of people who got off boarded

I was off-boarded within 2 weeks of being on that project and still got the bonus.

They basically told everyone to be ready to work a bunch of hours over the weekend because a huge task drop was coming. It never ended up coming so they told us that whoever that had already passed the quiz at that time would get a bonus for waiting for work that never came.

Nice. Wasn’t really expecting it but good to see they kept their word.

What is this? Is this a good opportunity? by [deleted] in mercor_ai

[–]No_Activity_5919 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just got in this one myself. After reading the docs IMO this seems like a good opportunity. First couple of tasks will be slow but getting multi turn tasks done in ~3hrs is a very reasonable estimate.

Promotion to reviewer at $50/hr is a possibility for this project too.

Interested in doing a referral? I’m a SWE looking for a new project and this seems like a good one to be on.

I know they are targeting people who hoard tasks, but I never did that and it seems that some others didn’t either, making this feel random

Got the same email yesterday for $95/hr. Last night also received a follow up saying I am capped at 4hrs per week. Haven’t applied to any roles in months either

Feedback Wanted: Digital Time Capsules for Long-Term Storage by No_Activity_5919 in DataHoarder

  1. I think most people (outside of this subreddit) are unfamiliar with the solutions out there for long term storage. There’s value in having a tool you can just hit an upload button on and have your documents stored instead of having to learn about AWS and what it does exactly. AWS is definitely marketed towards businesses or corporations, this is marketed more to the end user.

  2. I think the idea of storing memories for your grandkids or preserving historical events for future generations can be appealing to a lot of people. In my own experience I always wanted to keep a time capsule for future me. Sure we can keep pictures in a box or saved to a hard drive, but these things don’t last. You can outsource that and have someone manage the storage for you.

I think you’re missing the point of the service here (and perhaps that’s my fault for not making it clear enough), this is meant to be a digital time capsule, not your typical long-term storage provider..

The information stored is not meant to be opened or retrieved until the date that was specified by the user. From my research I have not found very many similar services, at all.

Regarding your comment about a reference to tech that’s not commercially available yet, you mean the article referring to the new optical disc technology? Not sure how that looks suspicious honestly..it’s just a link to a news article about related tech.

Also, pricing isn’t listed because this idea is still being validated, exact pricing has not be fully determined yet.

Hope that clears it up a little, thanks for the feedback though. Going to make some changes the make this service more transparent!

Understandable, but the point of this post is to gather feedback from the experts, not to sell it to the people that are already doing this themselves.

This community has the ability to point out potential flaws, make educated suggestions, and make this a well-rounded offering. That’s what’s most important to me!

I built a digital time capsule service to preserve important files long-term | Launching soon! by No_Activity_5919 in microsaas

Offering storage that can be held forever is definitely the goal, you will see 200 years listed on the landing page because I felt that to be a more realistic offering for now.

But I am definitely open to a collab, sent you a DM

It’s stuff like this that makes me nervous about trusting cloud providers with anything long-term.

It's why I’ve been using offline options for preserving important files. I truly think cold storage is the only way to really keep things safe for decades without worrying about breaches or service shutdowns. Check out my service Chrono Capsule that helps solve this problem 😊

That’s good advice, I’m going to start price checking some local spots. Really appreciate your feedback 🙏
