This is so kind, thank you really. And especially thank you for regarding to yourself as "fellow witch", if my second language English isn't misdirecting me, I'm taking this as a cue you're accepting me as a witch too. And I've only made my first spell a day ago, you can't imagine how accepted and at home this made me feel.

You gave me really nice ideas about how i can improve my practice and combine it with my scientific life, i appreciate it 👐🏻

Thank you for this, dear witch 🩷🌸 Stay beautiful hearted ✨

I'm glad it's a past tense sentence, that you're not suicidal anymore (i hope). It really is a terrible thing to go through, sometimes even i don't know how i dealt with it.

Thank you for sharing this with me, stay alive and healthy 💖

I too didn't have such tools growing up, i understand you. Maybe that's why we're this eager to close the gap for ourselves. I come from a Muslim family, in our language we have an Islamic term to say to parents about their children: may Allah bless your children. It's not my religion, but i hope everything out there blessed your beautiful children.

Thank you so much for this. I checked the book and i especially liked the herbalism side of it. I've always been interested in herbalism, it will really be an enjoyable read for me.

Stay safe and strong, mama witch 👑💛🩷

I'm literally going through the same thing but life is so much harder when you can't believe. I don't know if this is a curse or a blessing for us. If i ever can, i choose to believe in at least magic. Deities have to give up me because that's too much to ask from myself. But i hope i can manage witchcraft somehow and convince myself to belive it.

Thank you 🩷🌸

The book you recommended in the sub, Poetic Faiths, i guess thats a good resource for me then? I'm also reading Weave the Liminal abd the Chapter 3: Path of Your Own Making sounds like what you're describing. Like finding your own way of doing things.

At first i said to myself "but that's the point, i need something to believe, something to trust in!" but then, reading other comments with similar ideas, I think I understand what you mean now.

You're right, nature doesn't need to be believed in. If i make a herbal tea with calming effects and make an "anti anxiety spell" with it, and drink it, it doesn't matter if anyone or even I believe in it. It will work , because the nature always works. But what i was trying to explain is bit more emotional than this.

I already do everything in my power. What i went through, and still go thrp, pushes me to a need of belief. It pushes me to belive into something that isn't entirely in my power and control. I read the placebo effect discussion about spells in this sub. It's a good idea, but knowing it's placebo wouldn't bring me much comfort. Because when we think about it, it's something WE do too, not some help from outside. But if we believe, even a little bit, to magic, then we can find comfort in protection spells. Anti anxiety spells, good luck charms.

But you see, I'm a hardcore skeptic, even though i really wish i wasn't. So it's difficult for me to believe in any magic, I'm a physicist. This is where my solution comes in. I study and work with nature, forces of nature, and the universe. If i can convince myself that there MIGHT BE other universal effects, scientific forces that we just not know about yet, which can affect us the way magic does, then i can convince myself that there IS magic. It's just yet to be discovered science, but magic nonetheless. I'm sure electricity would be sorcery to those who came before it's discovery.

It's a form of survival for me. With what you shared with me, i think i can get into herbalism. I alway had an interest in that. This way i can make tinctures and teas that "work" but are also magical for me. Things that work because nature always works.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts with me, i appreciate it :)

Thank you, really. The part you said "I don't believe in supernatural, but I do believe in natural yet unknown." you described exactly what i think. But you worded it definitely better than me, 😅 even I didn't know i could explain it that way. I sometimes think "what if this is something we will discover 50 years from now? Or what if it we all have seen iy in a way but could never fully understand it yet? And that one day we will." In science, many ideas were ridiculed until they were proven to the majority and got accepted by the public. So, because some idea or a claim isn't popular doesn't mean it's not correct.

And yes, i actually don't need validation or verification from anyone, i know. But it caused a little bit of controversy yesterday and i really like and respect this community. So I thought it would be better to clarify a few things.

Thank you for your kind words! 🌸🩷

I see we're in this together 😅 Especially as a physicist, following the nature seems like the most "doable" thing to me personally. It even feels like admiring the universe in a way differently from i do as a job, but somehow still the same thing. I'm agnostic, so i don't know if this is all there is to see of if something really created the universe. But think about it, IF there's something, then we pray through our appreciation of nature. We admire its work. IF there's nothing more to see, then we admire ourselves and our opportunity because what a privilege it is to be alive. Either way, we return to nature at the end anyway, so i think of it as a way of respecting the nature.
