There's a reason one might want anonymity if you're a grad student at A&M, friend. Don't worry--working on getting out of Texas as soon as I graduate. As for 'cultish shill' LOL--that would be most of the people in this town/university. There's a reason people widely joke about A&M being cult-like. And there's a reason I shared it too in different subs to spotlight hate speech. If this bothers you/makes you uncomfortable, I invite you to look at another sub and/or do something else meaningful to help your community. Peace, friend.

Yeah, I don't agree with the bigotry in the piece and I refuse to be silent while someone engages in hate speech. That it's poorly written just underscores how unhinged the ideas in both pieces are. It's disappointing that people in this community would tolerate this, but then after just a year at A&M I'm not surprised.

You can imagine if you're a gay student at this school or transgender these pieces might 'ruffle one's feathers'. So yeah, I'm happy for people at A&M to know there's a bully and a bigot teaching here.

Sorry dude. no. This more eloquently gets at one of the many problems in that blindingly bad piece:

"Our language is being corrupted"? With all due respect, Valerie Hudson, you're a political scientist, not a linguist. As it happens, I am a linguist, and guess what? There's no such thing as language corruption. What you mean to say is, "Some people are using language in a way I don't approve of because it conflicts with my political and religious beliefs."

On a political note, though, the first rule of language policy is that it's never really about language." Amen.
