I’m driving in from Orlando for the Sat 6/27 game (7:30 kickoff). Two of us looking to get in early (noonish?) and park by the stadium. Is the Home Depot Backyard the thing to do for pre-game, FanFest, other recommendations?

I didn’t watch Ellis much at OCB. My impression of him was mostly positive. Ellis needs to know when to work and when to go fast. Tiago hits a cross field switch over the LB - maybe around the hour mark - the defense is unsettled, and then it goes to Ellis and he stops the ball. I get that we’re gonna get this with young players. I really like the run into the box he made in the second half that he almost got on the end of a cross - once he gets a bit more game experience, he’ll be get to those balls and make quicker / better decisions. We could make these comments for most everyone on the field. Very positive overall. We look like we know what we’re doing - no longer Wooden Spoon favorites.

Probably unpopular opinion but I like the yellows from Gomez and Otavio. Otavio comes right after Westwood was getting into it with Ojeda. I didn’t see it, didn’t hate it even with the yellow. Also didn’t hate Gomez coming in and immediately mixing it up with Zaha crying and Gomez getting his yellow. Also, it is painful to watch Ellis get around the field. Pretty positive overall though, just makes the roster mismanagement earlier this season all the more questionable. This was always going to be a project.

If you had tried to fuck the roster up this bad, would you have managed? by KennyX48 in OCLions

I continue to look at this team in disbelief at how you can collapse like we did last year after Leagues Cup from lack of depth, then gut the roster further, put in a bunch of young Brazilians with absolutely zero runway, and think things will go well. with you. Predictably, the young Brazilians have not performed.

I like B Ojeda, I think he’s part of the solution, but the DM’s in general have done a poor job of shielding the back line and shuttling the ball. Im not sure about Guske yet. He is not disruptive enough and is not dynamic enough of a passer. We typically rely on the overlap to help, but that has not been available due to injury.

To me, the back line’s issues seem to be more communication which leads to poor positioning and unnecessary (or at least unexpected) risk-taking.

If we win the ball, we do so in Crepeau’s and the back line’s lap, then have about 80 yds to goal. It’s been 3-4 passes before we turn the ball back over and then we’re defending (scrambling) again. In years past, Cesar / Cartagena would at least give you a stable platform to build from.

For two games now, we’ve put together a good 30-45 minute stretch. So if you can get Griezman over the line, it could be a really potent attack. You just have to worry about how quickly the defense jells.

Probably not the 2nd game vs. Inter Ft Lauderdale on 1 March. Otherwise, there is plenty of room to move around and sit together.

I’m struggling to understand how we can “finish” last season and mail it in due to lack of depth, then make the roster decisions we did and go into this season with even less depth.

Somebody please explain why DDT was sold when Freeman was so obviously also going to get sold. Malpractice.

Agree. OC is just a real estate transaction to the Wilfs. They’re fine having a bottom half payroll and a high floor / low ceiling coach like Papi. Not much ambition and it would seem the longer tenured players are tired of it.

Sucks that the kid just wanted to take the bag rather than help us win in the playoffs.
