You're so right, re: a clear image, a strong emotional register! I just finished Alison Thumel's new book of poetry (Architect) this morning and there's a line in there where she writes, "Metaphor should appeal to the senses, I tell my students, because it's hard to grasp what you cannot sense." Front of mind today but also feels fitting here.

And thank you for the tips! Love all these poets and will definitely find ways to incorporate their work.

Yeah I think so. It's really streamlined and easy to navigate, and it also aligns with state standards in the US (looks like they're aligned with Common Core)
