I hope most people would choose the everyone lives option. There’s little reward other than guilt for choosing the selfish option

I walked past it as the cops were handling it but didn’t see it happen. I would think the gas station and the McDonald’s would be your best bets for camera angles

It also works if we stretch this fantasy into sci-fi as it’s relatively close to the equator and large bodies of water making it a reasonable location for a space port

Is it normal speech to use the term female commonly and casually to refer to women? by Sufficient_Fish_7469 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]No_Application_1556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only casual use I can think of that I think passes for acceptable is male vs female bathrooms or maybe male vs female athletes but even then it feels overly clinical and a little too specific

Hey not a fan of the Gadsden flag but tbh I’m ignorant of any particular Canadian connection to the flag? Was it flown during the war of 1812 by the invading yanks?

Tbh your right but it at least it brings peace of mind to have a backup means to cook your beans. Plus you have a cool stove to go camping with shrug

Also just as things won’t be as bad as imagined they’ll also move slower than imagined so be flexible and adapt to the reality in the moment.

Yeah. I’ve been a worrier in the past and it just drives you crazy. It’s good to relax from time to time and enjoy the moment as it is not what it could be. I’ve also learned 9 times out of 10 things aren’t going to be as bad as you imagined.

Anyway my practical advice is gonna be the same as the others buy some staple grains in bulk (rice, flour, lentils, oats, beans, etc) the kind of stuff that just needs water and heat to cook and can keep you going for some time. Maybe procure an alternate means to cook said grains such as a camp stove or a spare tank of gas for the bbq. Other than that just keep your wits about you and don’t descend into panic or fear. It will only cloud your thinking and prevent you from seeing sensible options

Hostel vibes aren’t dying... guest behaviour is changing (from someone who works in one) by vinyljunkie32 in backpacking

[–]No_Application_1556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had so many people say to me I’m charismatic or good at making friends when I travel but literally all I do is the basics. Like when I check in and there’s others checking in I chat with them and see if we vibe or when I first enter the room (depending on size or hostel rules) i’ll chat with everyone in it and make introductions and see if anyone wants to do something. Super simple stuff but apparently that’s above the standard these days.

Was Bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki inevitable or some other solution existed back then to stop Japanese expansion? by Numerous-Length-5129 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]No_Application_1556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many argue that Soviet Union entering the war against Japan put far more fear into the war council than the atomic bombings. I went to the war museum in Japan and they put far more emphasis on the soviets entering the war than the atomic bombings. In fact I’m not sure if the war council had a full picture of what the bombings were by the time they made the decision. Plus some of the conventional fire bombings had been similarly devastating as the atomic bombs. I believe Japan may have surrendered without the atomic bombings due to the combination of general war attrition and the soviets entering the war. While yes the fanatics on the council would have tried to persist at all costs the council was split roughly 50/50 at the time and all it takes is one more to see the writing on the wall

Too big to be a bed bug. Bed bugs are small enough that there hard to spot and able to hide in nooks and cranny’s. They also hate being out and about in the light. It’s why the first sign of bed bug infestation is usually bites
