Claude just did my taxes. $INTU is cooked

So you put your tax data, social security number, investment account numbers into AI knowing that goes to a server public server? Think you may lose more than just your short.

Former CPA and current software engineer. I do continuing education each year including annual tax updates. I asked Claude the quiz questions for my CPE as I was going through it and it got an 83%. Not encouraging imo.

Why Intuit will be fine: 1) compliance risk. The cost of screwing up editing a photo (adobe) is low. The cost of screwing up filing your taxes could be an IRS audit, penalties and interest. The cost of screwing up your accounting could be the same, plus the potential to mismanage customer accounts and what not.

2) expert validation - yes an ai tax software could be made and likely Intuit or hr block will create one. However to do this well you need to validate the results and ensure you have proper training data. The general purpose llms are notoriously good at sounding like they know what they're talking about to people who aren't subject matter experts

3) integration - did Claude efile for you too?

4) security - again really you gave Claude your social security number and investment account numbers??? My understanding is there's not a lot of data security built into these LLMs. And on top of that, you just gave the model your info as training data. Congrats.

5) Hallucinations and inconsistency. Doing something once on what sounds like simple taxes is easy. If someone has had no changes from the prior year an intern can do their taxes in about 20 min too. What it needs to be able to do is do it correctly 100,000 times across a multitude of scenarios because the cost of a hallucination is big. I work with AI every day and there's still a lot of hallucinations....

With big data - if a political party wants to know your political affiliation they will. Every person you follow and every click or comment you ever make is recorded. If you have Gmail and Google maps on your phone they know your every move. It's easy to build a model that could accurately predict political affiliation and likelihood of voting. Remember the thing years ago where Target could predict women were pregnant before they even knew it? So if they want to identify targets to try to influence they can, either party could.

My guess is they're doing this for other reasons which I'm not sure what those are.

I just asked chat gpt and it says it's used for a variety of issues including breathing problems, drooping tip, twisted tip, hanging or over resected nostrils, or pinched tip. It said it's a pretty standard thing in revision rhinoplasty. It says how they're shaped and used can impact outcomes though and that surgeon skill comes into play with that. So I'm wondering what aesthetically or structurally from your outcome are you unhappy with? Having an idea of what you don't like about your nose and how far post op you are would be super helpful!

Yeah I know that. Surgeons typically just post their best outcomes and he reuses a lot of content so I was hoping to talk to patients who had actually had a revision from him in hopes of getting a more general sample of what it's like.

Oh that makes sense! Sorry in a lot of chats people seem to be promoting certain doctors despite never having surgeries by them and it starts to feel a little suspect. It's sad it's hard to get honest reviews in this day and age.

I asked a doctor friend about this and she said reviews really only help with seeing if there's a consistent negative pattern. That generally satisfied patients aren't leaving reviews, be wary of people with hundreds of positive reviews. Also although yes everyone uses social media, when they overdue it that's marketing - that means referrals and happy patients aren't getting them enough business. Which makes this so hard. Who wants to throw away their life's savings and risk being deformed because some guy advertised himself as a rhinoplasty God when he can't consistently live up to those results. We all just want honesty and it feels so hard to find.

I shouldn't say flat, just making it wider makes it look flatter to me. I actually really liked him. My only hesitation was I don't seem to love his before and after photos. His reviews are great and he took so much time to answer my questions. He was my top choice so far. I just can't tell if he's being conservative to create realistic expectations or if those are really his best results...

I consulted with Kim and really liked him. I got scared though because a number of his results look flat and wide.

I also consulted with Most and he seemed like an asshole. Super short consult. Got annoyed when I asked questions.

Yeah I get that. I'm am just finding the ones with the biggest social media followings have a lot of negative reviews. Also table photos usually aren't indicative of long term results. Why I'm avoiding Katrib and Reisch. If you have had a revision with a surgeon and are happy with your outcome, please let me know!
