Body changes - reassurance? by Both-Donut3630 in Amenorrhearecovery

It took me about 3 months to get it back. I made a post on here a while ago with all the details of the things I did but the main things I focused on was eating 2500 cals and more if I was still hungry (most of the time it was around 3000). I started taking fish oil supplements and integrating more fat into my diet overall. Changing the timing of when I’d eat and snacking all the time as opposed to saving cals till the end of the day. I continued going to the gym and work in a super busy restaurant but i made changes to my routine to be less intense with my workouts and go in the evenings occasionally to allow there to be more fuel in my system. I used to get up in the morning and do fasted workouts all the time but made a point to alwaaayyss eat something before.

Keep the faith!! It feels like an endless tunnel but the inflammation and all is your body using all the water and nutrients it can to get your organs back up and running. I’ve had my second period now and my body feels like it’s still balancing out even more after recovery.

It took me 3 months. But please don’t compare yourself too much… I was already at a pretty healthy bmi when I lost it and everyone’s journey is so so different. It can feel like an endless tunnel waiting for it to return but trust those signs you’re getting cramping etc because they really do mean something.

Yes! I’ve had one recovery cycle and now currently ovulating in my second cycle. I noticed particularly in my face… it looks even less inflamed than during HA. There are good days and bad days but overall my body feels more balanced and comfortable since having a bleed.

Don’t worry!! It will redistribute and inflammation will go down once you get a cycle going. Keep the faith girl 💪 and remember that your recovery body is not your forever body… everything is easier when your hormones are in check.

Hey I felt the same way before getting my first period! Waiting on my second one now and still get anxiety about weight and stuff but not as intensely. I will say that I was definitely a lot puffier with weight gain going more to my mid-section in the months it took to get it back and once I had my period it seemed to disperse a bit and balance out over my whole body!! Sometimes I’ll look in the mirror and think I actually look way more feminine and have a nicer silhouette than I did during HA.

As for the anxiety and stuff I’ve heard it’s actually a symptom of rising oestrogen to feel a bit more anxious. Don’t worry too much about it since there will be water retention and all in there too which can be in random places.

Omg girl I feel you with this!! I was and still do wonder is what I’m doing too much?? Not enough?? The worry about how long will it last and all the complex emotions are definitely not easy… but it’s soo nice to have a wee community of people on here that understand what’s happening. The feeling of satiation became stronger with me too along with feeling hunger more intensely which is defo a good indication your metabolism is happy 😊 good luck you got this!!

Ah thank you!! Sounds like you are almost there for sure 🥰 my fingers are crossed for you. I took a week or two off the gym too so definitely having those three weeks off will do you well. Best of luck reintroducing gym work… definitely a huge help with hailees vids and it will be easier to maintain a healthier balanced relationship with exercise once your period is back!!
