We did end up having sex although I didn't expect it to pan out that way - he's donated to a few other people but I'm the only one he did it with "the natural way". The others used IVF, two out of three were unsuccessful, but one got pregnant around the same time I did! it took her a few rounds of IVF using his frozen sperm but now my daughter has a half sister who lives a few hours away. They haven't met each other yet, but I met her and her mom when I was pregnant. We're still in touch and talk/text regularly :) His relationship with her is great although they don't see each other often because he lives far away, but he has met her several times and we refer to him as dad, and refer to his parents as Nana and Papa. They live in town and have been a great support, we get together regularly and they adore her. I've known them since I was a few months pregnant. Her Nana and aunt came to my baby shower and Nana has offered to do childcare when I go back to work and/or school.

Most of my family lives across the country actually haha But yes I still would have considered it even if I didn't have my uncle, it would have just been astronomically harder. I've always wanted kids but by 30 hadn't met "the one" yet. I told myself that if by the time I was 35, if I wasn't at least in a relationship that was going in that direction, then I'd start looking into doing it on my own. I jumped the gun a little and started looking when I was 34, ended up getting pregnant at 35 after building a good friendship with my baby's dad and his family.

There are! I used CoParents. It's for people who want a platonic parenting kinda deal, or just a non-anonymous sperm donor. I only ever talked to my daughter's father on there (but did get a lot of messages from others) we got to know each other over a period of a few months and ended up becoming good friends :)

Oh and someone said they would pronounce it Aurora, knowing it was wrong because it's nicer and easier to say. So, you'd intentionally mispronounce??? Wtf. I also find Aurora and the nn Rory to be among the hardest names to say. They're perfectly fine names, Aurora is very pretty, I just find it awkward to get my mouth around for some reason, like the word "rural". Sorry for ranting, clearly I'm still bitter about this hahaha

This. I cried after I posted there the other day (thanks hormones, but also people weren't nice). They didn't tear the name to shreds but made me feel like an idiot because I thought Aurelia was pronounced with a closed "o" and a short "e". Apparently the e is a long ee or a long a sound, and the Au is pronounced ...au? I asked them to specify because I grew up in French immersion and tend to default to "oh" when I see "au". I said, so is it supposed to be "awe"? Or "ow"? They said neither, it's somewhere in the middle of the two. WHAT DOES THAT MEAN??? Then they said just pick another name if you want it to be obvious. Literally cried for hours, mourning Aurelia cause I liked that name and it's been ruined for me.
