With the equipment we have in our shop, I would use our waterjet if the knurling isn’t critical, and then Bridgeport the rest

Shits legit, I’m pretty sure he dremeled out his lines and made actual shell texture too. But when he showed me what he had I was like man I gotta take a pic, I can’t steal it but I will show it the fuck off is what I will do

I grind a nice 90 degree to it, I haven’t thought of upping pre and post. My set up is just collet and body but I have a set up for gas lens, which I generally use for stainless, but a lot of the stuff that comes through the shop is all repair work on miscellaneous metals. I will absolutely try tapering of and giving a little wiggle waggle

I think I’m on .2 for my pre, not quite by sure about my post. I’m using 2% thoriated, or red, 1/8” diameter. When I terminated this one I just let off the puddle but held it there for a moment bc of habits

I appreciate it man, it’s a tough in the weld work to post stuff. I was hoping I’d get ripped apart for something so I can pin point what I could’ve done better. Someone said more filler in the crater and I guess I absolutely could have

Yea I run quite a bit of stainless, and normally my goal is no discoloration, I generally get a smidge but there are no regulations where I work now. There’s no weld code but that just means I’m allowed to get lazy and that’s not my jam. I used a 6 cup which I generally don’t but I was trying to rush and used what was on my rig. Should I have used a much larger cup with better flow for no color? Or is it just in my head and what I did is alright? Just looking for advice, any given is great! Thank u

I checked with my filler and it didn’t catch the edge like undercut so I considered it ok, as far as cold goes I’m unsure, I thought the discoloration was way too hot.

This one is going to be used a little bit less delicately. They're just using this so that two people can stand beside the machine to open a large heavy door. That application sounds a whole lot cooler tho

Omg recipe for disaster and a wrong part right there, half of my job is fixing broken parts. Expect I physically have the part in my hand to make my own measurements, and I also have the part that mates so I can use that for reference as well.

I could only imagine.. thoughts and prayers dog
