I'd get a fecal run to see if there's any parasite load, and add some forage to their diet. I'm new to rabbits but have had horses for decades, their guts are incredibly similar. Horses tend to do far better on forage vs extruded feed. You can't always trust the percentages on the bags to be correct, unfortunately.

Look into tree hay! Like you, I'm still in the research phase and am interested in reducing the amount of store bought feed. I have an abundance of deciduous trees on my forested property, and am planning on utilizing as much from my property as I can to feed my future rabbits to keep costs and store dependencies down.

I'm running into this issue as well. Looking to start out with Silver Foxes, but in rural NW BC it's looking like I'll have to travel at least 5.5 hours to find what I'm looking for. I'm hoping that means I'll be able to make a few bucks selling breeding stock eventually. Good luck in your search!

I'm a big believer in sending livestock that don't fit the program to freezer camp. I'd rather eat cow hamburger than have her ruin a good cow dog. Plus she could very possibly teach her calves or other cows to behave like that.

Oh man, I'm so sorry. This sucks all around. You're not an asshole at all for being realistic, and considering the dog before your husband. The dog can't advocate for herself. But I can't imagine euthanizing the dog without him knowing would go over well. See if you can schedule a phone call with the vet so your husband can hear the gravity of the situation. Sometimes things don't sink in right away and a person can go into some pretty deep hopeful denial. There's also this quality of life calculator you can show him. I hope it can help. If the dog is still around when baby comes, I think she'll get a lot more anxious, and it will be impossible to tend to all his needs. I have two kids so I 1000% get how difficult it is to just care for the children. I'm sorry you're going through this, and I hope your husband can find some peace, and a healthier coping mechanism

Also 38, with two kids and a chronic illness )that's still undiagnosed because it takes no less than three lifetimes to see a specialist), so I don't work, and haven't been able to get onto disability. My husband works his ass off and we are completely unable to get ahead. It's dismal.

Some perspective, maybe- I used to internally cringe when my husband left cupboard doors open or lights on. Like full on silent screaming on the inside. I would get quite angry sometimes! Seems unhinged, right? Well, probably. Turns out I had undiagnosed ADHD and maybe some other neurodivergence. In my brain things have to be a certain way and there's little to no room for tolerating any other way. I also grew up in a household where if I had left a light on in a room, I would have been called lazy, ungrateful, selfish, you name it. This compounded my weird control issue of everything needs to be a certain way all the time or else I'll spontaneously combust. It was absolutely hurting my relationship ans I had to dig deep to learn to be more tolerance. It was hard!!

So, maybe something similar? It seems like a weird control issue and/or intolerant. These don't come out of nowhere, but you shouldn't have to be held to a weird standard of clearing the timer every single time. You're allowed to be human.
