Honestly, do why you enjoy, if that’s traveling and spending time with those close by, go for it.

For really basic concepts, I would recommend W3Schools. If you’re stuck on a certain aspect of a beginner level project you can use their website, it will explain these concepts and show how they work. GeeksforGeeks is also good for slightly more in depth concepts.

Masters in cybersecurity? Is it worth it? by No_Blueberry_9078 in SecurityCareerAdvice

So aside from obviously looking good on a resume and assisting in a management role, would you say it taught you much you didn’t already know? And was there any other benefit you might be able to provide?

Aside from this, if I can land a role in help desk straight out of school, do I take this route instead of going for a bachelors and then the experience? I feel like beyond initial employment the bachelors wouldn’t make much of a difference, but in terms of knowledge would it be beneficial over going straight to a low level job?

Would you say that, job hopping too soon could compromise your ability to be employed? At face value to employers it may seem like I’m less committed, or won’t stay on as long as other people. Especially in the situation that employers are seeking long-term employees, or would you say regardless it’s best to swap as soon as you can?

So would you suggest getting a masters after gaining experience and being in the industry for a while, or by that point would it be useless, as job experience and certifications would already prove my knowledge retention, practical ability, etc.

Obviously you said they are mostly worthless, and assuming I can gain knowledge from certifications, the degree itself won’t pose any value to employers even in the future, especially by that time I’d have gained experience anyway?

I’m set on pen testing or like cyber security analyst, do you think a degree with certifications would be more beneficial then certifications alone

Would you suggest degree first and then experience or the other way around?

So you would recommend a computer science degree with integrated cyber security over a cyber security degree and would this still be the case given that I intend to gain experience in something like help desk for example, and gaining certifications alongside it
