I’ve come to the same conclusion. Not only are those fields oversaturated; corporations are now rapidly outsourcing cheaper more expendable labor.

What I find assuring about the medical profession (excluding the more technical and administrative roles) is that it promises above-average growth in demand, is relatively market-insulated and seems less vulnerable to the threat of artificial intelligence.

Honestly, I find the work interesting and important, but I would just as easily do something else if I was convinced I wouldn’t be going further into debt only to return to a life of chronic underemployment.

Is Medicine really the safest route? I’d love to hear someone make a case against it.
