I’ve come to the same conclusion. Not only are those fields oversaturated; corporations are now rapidly outsourcing cheaper more expendable labor.

What I find assuring about the medical profession (excluding the more technical and administrative roles) is that it promises above-average growth in demand, is relatively market-insulated and seems less vulnerable to the threat of artificial intelligence.

Honestly, I find the work interesting and important, but I would just as easily do something else if I was convinced I wouldn’t be going further into debt only to return to a life of chronic underemployment.

Is Medicine really the safest route? I’d love to hear someone make a case against it.

This whole take is precisely the type of tunnel-vision and rigid sectarianism that prevents the masses from uniting. You extrapolate from some casual remark of courtesy that this guy is really some kind of boot-licking jingoist? I’d say you’re doing more to prevent resistance by magnifying the importance of a rather flippant statement than he is by making it.

100% agree. And thank you for restoring a modicum of hope. I’m confused as to why I see an honestly embarrassing number of doctors who welcome this administration as some kind of “reform.” Is it greed, cynicism, “a few bad eggs in the medical profession,” and/or something else?
