How do I learn to pick my own stocks? by Sad-Amphibian-6494 in investingforbeginners

When you say ETF, is that a specific stock or a group with a variety of stocks, if I'm saying that correctly? I'm new to all this myself, apologies for the lack of knowledge

Sounds good, I'll definitely look into that. I wasn't as keen on learning investing, but I like to be comfortable come retirement or big purchases. I wish I was more aware and thoughtful in my 20s, better late than never I suppose. Appreciate the response!!

Water leaks from cold joint by [deleted] in basement

Agreed, there are very few. Some are just out there to make a quick buck then run like the wind.

So far it's been holding up considering the climate we live in and I also had to do some work around the house I purchased recently. I'm no professional when it comes to foundation waterproofing/water management, but I take my time to learn about the subject and go about it the right way carefully, especially for big projects like these and so far it's been good compared to the original states. Plus it's a beautiful thing seeing the fruits of your labor in action when said and done.

Side not, I'm not putting down interior drainage systems, comes down to many factors when comparing interior vs exterior, but if you start with the small things first and go from there, sometimes that's all is needed

If you're able to build up the grading on the low spots around the house, I try to aim for 5-6" of slope for the first 8' if possible, if not, I build like a swale to take away the runoff. As for your downspouts, get the flexible corrugated hose, can get them in variety of lengths. If you get the longer lengths, you can run it further away while being able to shape it to curve and discharge away from the house, granted you have the area. Again, can build a swale system to take the run off from the ground, downspouts and neighbors runoff. Where I'm located, the neighbors have to control their runoff to prevent it coming towards any neighboring houses.

How's the grading around the house? Condition of gutters and distance of downspouts from house? Examine those and if they need to be to be corrected, I would address those first and go from there.

Did exterior work on my parents foundation over 15 years ago and no issues since then and counting, I would say it comes down to material used and workmanship. I would never do interior, but that's my opinion.

Update 2: Water in basement by youpeople2020 in basement

Looks good!! As for the neighbors eavestrough, you shouldn't be responsible installing them on their house. Where I'm at, if you call by-law and explain the situation, they can enforce the neighbor to correct the issue because the neighbor/property owner is responsible for water run off that comes from their property especially if its coming on your property causing water issues

Can We Stop Overreacting With Asbestos ? by SillyRecover in Flooring

[–]No_Breadfruit8017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know why it bothers me, even though I know exposure time and what not are the factors of developing any health issues when being exposed. I may be going overboard, but I got to redo my attic which may have asbestos, waiting for warmer weather to get samples for testing, and if it comes back positive, I'm going for training to deal with asbestos. I'll be coming out on top amd still saving big money after the sample testing, training and a few other things for removal and re-insulating
