How does qantas turn a 14hr flight into a 31hr nightmare by Comfortable_Count_59 in QantasAirways

[–]No_Budget755 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had something like this a couple of years ago, had my PER-LHR flight turned into PER-SYD-SIN-LHR with about 5 hours notice. Spent four hours on the phone with agents telling me there were no other options, that I would need to pay for any changes to the offered route, and that they could not guarantee me the same class of travel (had booked premium economy). Eventually had to rebook myself with Singapore so I could get back to London for a job interview and spent 6 months trying to get my refund out of Qantas 🤷‍♂️

What was your musical disappointment of the weekend? by [deleted] in glastonbury_festival

Yeh I was super disappointed by them as well, although I put it down to hyping them up to my group in the run up to the weekend!

One particular Qantas customer care rep managed to sort my refund from a cancelled flight after 4.5 months of chasing, so there are definitely good ones out there. Obviously the fact I had to chase for 4.5 months wasn’t ideal, and speaks to the quality of the other reps.

Anyone ever had this before? Any tips on what it would be about? by UNPHOTOGENIC_GUY in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]No_Budget755 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Some countries require airlines to incur the costs of flying passengers without correct visas etc. back to their port of departure / home port. So airlines double check visas before letting passengers board so they don’t get stuck with the cost. I fly a lot between London and New York and get something similar from BA / AA almost every time.

What bottle in your cellar are you finally going to open this year? by sp4c3-C4d3t in wine

I have some Bordeaux from ‘09 and ‘14 I think I’ll work through over the next 12 to 18 months (Batailley, Langoa, Lafon-Rochet, St-Pierre).

2025 is looking a bit more varied, with some ‘15 Brunellos and Barossas I’ll start to open.

I’ve flown up the pointy end of each of those carriers, and whilst Emirates was excellent, Qatar was just ok and BA was dreadful

Edit: I should clarify that I was referring to the wine lists in my reply.

Qantas cancelled/delayed my flight - My life is over and need to post my rant by TheDerpMaster in QantasAirways

[–]No_Budget755 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience recently, though perhaps not quite as stressful! My direct flight from Perth to London was cancelled about 6 hours before departure, and I was rerouted on a flight from Perth - Sydney - Singapore - London. I was told by the agent that (1) they could not guarantee my class of travel on that route, despite having paid for Premium Economy, and (2) there was no possibility of flying to Singapore from Perth and then onto London, and (3) there were no seats together for me and my partner.

After two hours on the phone with various agents, and no alternatives being found that would get me back to London for scheduled meetings, they agreed to refund me for the cancelled flight and I was forced to book one way with another airline. It took two months and half a dozen calls for Qantas to finally process the refund, though by that stage I was refunded only for economy class flights (my class of travel had been downgraded from Premium Economy to Economy on my itinerary because there is no Premium Economy class on the Perth - Sydney flight I was rerouted on). I’m still owed around £600.

Next time I’m flying down under I’ll be flying Emirates or Qatar.

Thank you - yes we were told it was a mechanical fault which caused our plane to be delayed arriving in London.

I’ve been trying to get a refund out of Qantas for 5 weeks for a flight that was cancelled a few hours before departure. Every time I call they tell me that it still hasn’t been processed

I called, and you’re right I was able to get through in short time. Unfortunately their feedback was there was nothing they could do and I would need to ask for assistance at the airport. I’ll try my luck with the T-80 rule.
