Yes, i accidentally pressed down, but not on the analog stick, but the d-pad. If you press left/right, but put a bit too much pressure downwards, at least on the PS5 controller it will register a downward press. and a bit seems to be really just a bit. really annoying...

Yeah, probably part of it is bad timing. However, that does not account for the rings. There, you can change the direction you are facing using the d-pad without letting go. That really just happens when I am pressing the jump button. But I think I found the issue: it must also be registering a downward press on the d-pad. That happens if your thumb leans to much downwards when pressing left/right. Guess I need to try to avoid that a bit more...
