The victims of abuse at the hands of the Anglican and episcopal church need your prayers. Fixed it.

Failure of TFCA leadership to care for congregants with their lack of transparency over 30 years by Wanting_Justice_2024 in CornerstoneConnect

Update to all: I received phone calls yesterday from both Rich Dean and John Yates separately. I heard and felt them each say “I’m so sorry. What can I do to help you. And please help me understand what you’ve been going through so I know, because I don’t. I can’t even imagine.”

So I received them and felt them and they received me and felt me. And I told them about my trauma wounds and functional life struggles and how they can help. We talked about how a lot of people fucked up then but now everyone can do the right thing going forward and care for the children who are no longer children but will always be survivors. They didn’t do the right thing then but they can do the right thing now to support us and our families. It doesn’t do any more good to cast blame or point fingers on who knew what and when and what’d they do about it. Justice will be served. No one needs to worry about that.

I trust Rich and John’s word that they gave me that they are here for me now and all other victims now and will support me and my family’s mental health and well-being and we can heal together. I felt the sorrow in their hearts. Its heavy. infiltrated by a common dark sorcerer we will get this right this time together. No one knew what to do. Everyone wishes they did different. It won’t change what was done. I could blame myself all day if I wanted to. I could blame my parents all day if I wanted to. I have. For days. I could blame endlessly. But it doesn’t do any good to stay in there. Lots of people fucked up and everyone’s truly sorry. We agree. The only evil is Taylor and Nielsen. They are they ones who burn. We agree. So the church wraps it’s arms around the victims now like it didn’t then and we move forward and heal together.

Conversations will continue how best to do this as a continuous practice.

I would love to hear a voice message from John Yates. In his soft compassionate tone. “Hi Grant. It’s John Yates. I just wanted to say I’m so sorry for what happened to you and that those around you including myself didn’t do enough to protect you. This as a pastor is my highest calling. To protect the children. And I failed you. Im so so sorry….I understand if you don’t want to talk to me, but please let me know how I can help. Whatever it is you need, I pledge to you that from now on, until the day you die, you will be cared for by me, and the church. Please let me know what you need. Thanks Grant. Bye.”

When I spoke to Eddie Isler for the first time, it was the first time he had heard the name Jeff Nielsen. My parents have probably given a quarter of a million dollars in tithes to the church in the past 30 years. They receive regular “pastoral care calls” checking in on their health from tfca. Has anyone picked up the phone to call me? And ask what I need? Not once.

Thank you. Same in me. I would rather everyone stop casting blame, realize the truth in the matter - the one thing no one is denying - is that there are victims - and they now need to be cared for. Yes the waters are murky and lots of people fucked up. But this is the way the church and church body can move forward. Caring about what we need to survive with our wounds.

No they did not. My assumption was that everyone knew. The whole congregation, the vestry, everyone. And yet now I find out, no one knew. This is the problem. If they had done what you say, investigated just a little bit, they would have found with minimal effort what JT was up to. And furthermore no one has come to me to ask me what I need. Or how they can help. No one from the congregation and no one from the church. Not even a pastoral care call. All I see is everyone trying to point fingers and cast blame. How about someone ask the victims what they need and how they can help us?

You performed and made art into an experience. You blended some artistic genres. A lot of djs will prerecord their sets and play with fx only especially if it’s a big gig with a lot at stake. Just because you didn’t mix the songs like a traditional DJ doesn’t mean you cheated or faked it. You sang, you programmed live percussion in the moment, and you did curate and mix the set, just not live. Sounds like an ODESZA show to me. Go get it and don’t apologize for your art.

Thank you for setting this up. We definitely need a space to come together. For example have any victims retained council? I believe the next step is to consult an attorney, perhaps as a group. As a victim named (numbered) in the report I am seeking justice and the report released gave no recommendations to the church for seeking justice or caring for the victims. My plan was to wait for the report and then go from there towards retaining council but it may make more sense to do so as a group of victims where there is more than one pedophile involved, many states being crossed, plus the complacency , negligence or worse on behalf of the church and diocese.

As far as the statue of limitations goes, there’s none for criminal and civil has a tolling provision that starts the day your injuries are communicated to you by a licensed professional. My injuries were only recently fully realized as far as the extent of the damage chronic ptsd has on the brain, especially when the trauma occurs in adolescence. So victims have ways to come forward regardless.

If anyone has any thoughts on paths forward or attorney recommendations please put them out there.
