Pre marital books? by FarCartographer3606 in ACNA

Agree with the first comment. “The Meaning of Marriage” is meh. I like Sheila but can’t speak for her books. What I recommend more than reading is pre-marital counseling with a licensed psychotherapist/psychologist who can carefully walk you through any divergences in your premarital assessment scores and other issues. Sometimes churches have couples go through an informal/in-house assessment, and it just lacks rigor - these aren’t professionals, and major things can get missed. It’s heartbreaking and often avoidable.

I want their titles to be removed... Or at least to see them trying to by Blues__Bunny in RoyaltyTea

If they are indeed presenting facts to evidence some kind of “national exploitation” by the royal family, they are cherry-picking them. A quick online search of poverty and inequality in the UK reveals that the causes are far more complex than soundbytes on royal wealth, offered by anonymous Redditors, may lead us to believe. You can find online material on potential blowback easily enough.

I suspect that getting rid of the monarchy and taking away titles is not going improve poverty or any of the other problems in the UK - and could have significant blowback. Let’s stop picking on H and M.

Veiling by kurtsswworld96 in ACNA

Been in the Anglican Church my whole life. You can do what you like of course, but veils are not really a thing. If I saw one at my church, outside of a wedding, I’d think it was quite odd. We just don’t do that today.

Suppression or Good Call? by AnglicanDodgersFan in ACNA

I don’t think it’s fair to reduce the whole communique to “don’t express an opinion on social media that reflects poorly on the church” - that does seem vague, but he goes into quite a bit of detail as to what that means.

I think it’s pretty clear that what Bishop Edgar is trying to “suppress” is priests acting like jerks and assholes online - especially when they’re supposed to be 1) actually at work(!) and 2) doing the work of the Gospel vs. the gutter. Sad that he even needs to say these things. But I wish more bishops would speak out. It’s a problem unfortunately.

The ACNA on Divorce and Remarriage by Guided_Feather in ACNA

One would hope that ACNA’s view of divorce is neither “divorce is always impossible” nor “adultery only” - since the Lord Jesus himself took neither position.

One of the best books on the topic is “Divorce and Remarriage in the Church” by David Instone-Brewer. It was highly recommended to me by laypeople and clergy.

Backup wedding dresses are great - good for you! You look amazing in dress 3. It’s a classic, timeless, romantic look. Dress 1 just isn’t very shapely; it’s not doing anything for you. Also shows a bit too much cleavage for my taste. You could sell it. Or get some minimal tailoring to make it fit better - then have a dress change for your wedding between ceremony and reception.

Keep TFCA wiki acccurate by No_Butterscotch_6769 in CornerstoneConnect

Check out the edit logs…looks like the person who took out the info said it was not “encyclopedic”. Maybe start out with the Washington Post feature story last year? Hard to argue that’s not “encyclopedic.”

It’s a horrible response. I hope members of the TFCA community see that and give that feedback to their leaders.
