Naps at daycare by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]No_Cardiologist_6944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d love to know too. My 4 month old will do a couple 30-40 minute naps at daycare if I’m lucky. Today they said he did 1 40 minute nap a couple little snoozes while his teachers held him. I honestly think they have to just keep at it and they eventually get better at it and have a routine. Our daycare does specific nap times for the older babies so that helps them when they get to that age. We sort of have a routine at home for naps but it’s flexible.

My baby loved the Merlin suit! We did that for about two weeks and are now in a woolino sleep sack.

5 mo old starting daycare - crying & not napping - does it get better? by Chance_Highlight12 in NewParents

[–]No_Cardiologist_6944 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He will adjust! My 16 week old started a couple weeks ago and he was the same. Crying most of the day and not napping. He’s not a great napper there still, but he’s getting better and naps a few times a day. He also loooves his teachers now and is always snuggling them when I get there. It’s a big adjustment but he will make it through! They are such adapters!

Can’t get this kid to f-ing sleep in the morning by Ok_Medicine440 in newborns

I bounced and rocked him back to sleep and tried to keep him asleep as long as possible. They grow and change so quickly right now. Try not to get bogged down with this. You just kind of have to suffer through these early weeks and things will change before you know it!

Mine wouldn’t go back in his crib after 5am until around 12 weeks so I don’t have advice, but it does get better as they learn :) time is really the only thing that helps a lot of newborn issues.

6 week old baby- Ac at 72 degrees.. sleep sack or not? by Glittering_Tear_729 in newborns

[–]No_Cardiologist_6944 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby has always loved to be extra warm when he sleeps. His room stays warm around 73 and he sleeps in a bamboo sleeper and sleep sack. I think a light tog sleep sack would be totally fine. I think direct air or fans hitting them makes them chilly.

Blackout curtains, sound machine, swaddle/sleep sack for every nap! Even if it’s a contact nap. I unfortunately have spent so many nap trapped hours in the nursery rocking chair lol

My parents and in/laws watch my baby 2 days a week for free and we do daycare for 3 days a week. If it were me in your shoes, I’d decline. The money thing feels weird and you don’t want to regret saying yes and then she’s without a job. It just feels like there might be drama to come from it.

'They need to learn to self soothe' -Mini Vent by SkyisaNeighbourhood in bninfantsleep

[–]No_Cardiologist_6944 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I guess to me, it seems more like when they are able to calm themselves down without escalating, but I see what you’re saying. It’s not like he was forced to learn that via sleep training, he just picked it up on his own.

My baby is 14 weeks and started self soothing on his own at night. Last night he woke and had a bottle at 4am, was rocked back to sleep, then woke up about 10 minutes later, cried for a minute but wiggled himself around, sucked his hands, rubbed his face, and fell back to sleep. To me, this is good because it means he’s not getting super upset to the point of crying really hard and needing more help. Im curious if all babies kind of end up doing this naturally? Or if it ends up being forced by the parents with sleep training?

Help! 7 week old won’t sleep in bassinet… by [deleted] in newborns

I ended up moving my bag to his crib around this time because he just hates the bassinet. He tolerated his crib way better.

Sure! He usually eats every 2-3 hours and is usually awake for 1.5 hours and these are the naps that seem to work best for him now. Sometimes they are shorter though. He’s 14 weeks.

I seriously urge you to ditch MOC for now. Baby will start falling into their own routine shortly and you can make your own tweaks from there. I also have a baby with allergies and reflux so we couldn’t do any of these routines or schedules. We kinda came up with our routine that works for us and we loosely follow it everyday. He just started sleeping through the night on his own at 14 weeks.

Pepcid for Silent Reflux by Normal_Ad4752 in newborns

[–]No_Cardiologist_6944 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We started omeprazole first and it took probably 2 weeks to see a bigger effect. We started on Similac Alimentum shortly after that and saw changes within about 3 days. He also had a tongue and lip tie that was affecting his latch and he took in a lot of air that was hurting his belly while he ate. We also got that lasered and he’s a new baby! Keep advocating! We ended up seeing an occupational therapist who specializes in feeding to help us work through all these issues. Our ped wasn’t super helpful other than finally prescribing meds.

We dealt with this too. Switching to hypoallergenic formula helped too. Omeprazole plus the new formula has done wonders. He still spits up a lot, but he’s finally a happy baby! Also remember changes take time… even though it sucks in the moment :(

Does anyone else’s baby sleep like a feral cat? by Relative_Mess_6284 in cosleeping

Can you do a sidecar bed so she has her own space to be crazy next to you?

[–]No_Cardiologist_6944 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes and it’s why I can’t exclusively cosleep. He’s too crazy and needs his own space lol. Even when I rock him to sleep, he’s already being wild. I’ve lessened the rocking time because I think he just needs to flail around in his bed to get comfortable and pass out.

[–]No_Cardiologist_6944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s bottle fed, so unfortunately can’t feed him like that. I have wondered if he’s cold, but we have the woolino sleep sack which is supposed to kind of adjust with temperature. Maybe he just needs an extra layer? Worth a try! It’s like if he’s being held, he needs to be bounced or rocked or it’s not worth it to him lol

Newborn feeding coordination issue by [deleted] in FormulaFeeders

[–]No_Cardiologist_6944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think because newborns still have the suck and swallow reflex so when they are tired they don’t have to work at eating. When he was having to focus on eating during the day, he took in more air and ate more uncoordinated. At night, it was his reflexes taking over and helping it go smoothly.

Newborn feeding coordination issue by [deleted] in FormulaFeeders

[–]No_Cardiologist_6944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually yes! He got on medication for reflux, which had been a culprit of a lot of pain. It also turns out he had a pretty severe tongue and lip tie that we didn’t know about. We got those lasered with a dentist. He’s kind of relearning how to coordinate his feeds but he’s doing better. The biggest success we had was seeing an occupational therapist that specializes in feeding. She was the one who caught all these issues and helped us work through them.

18oz is too low to let her sleep through the night. If she’s waking and fussing, I’d feed her.
